“Don’t embarrass him,” Heather said. “Even if I find it sweet myself.”

These two sure knew how to knock down his manhood. More so since he couldn’t remember the last time he had a girlfriend, let alone used that word.

“If you two don’t mind me tagging along, I’d love it. Let me just finish putting everything away and go change.”

“You’ve got time,” she said. “It’s not even eleven. The first movie is at one. We’ll just eat close to the movie theater.”

Guess his day was being planned for him and he had not one complaint about it.

Her Boyfriend

“That was so much fun,” Daisy said hours later. “Thank you for including me on your date. I know you don’t see much of Luke, so you didn’t need to do it.”

“I thought it was super sweet of him to ask you to go. You’ve been doing so much for me. I can’t thank you enough.”

Daisy waved her hand. “Please. You’d do it for me and you know it.”

“I would,” she said.

“And you got lucky last night. Finally,” Daisy said, wiggling her eyebrows.

“I think I had to all but twist his arm. I put him on the spot. Part of me feels horrible about that and the other part knew it had to be done.”

“So what was his problem?” Daisy asked. “Was he afraid of hurting you as you thought?”

“Yes,” she said. “But he was fine once I showed himIwas fine.”

“Good,” Daisy said. “Now I can be jealous of your relationship. Because, you know, you’ve got a boyfriend and all.”

“I do,” she said. “I was a little shocked to hear Luke call me his girlfriend but was filled with the warm fuzzies just the same.”

“I would be too,” Daisy said. “Can I get you a coffee to go with our fudge?”

“Yes, please,” she said. “I wish Luke could have come in, but he had things to do and is working tomorrow.”

“First tell me how the party was yesterday,” Daisy shouted from the kitchen. “I wish I could have gone. But I know Rose isn’t feeling all that well and she’s trying to hide it. I wanted to try to get ahead on orders for her.”

“You’re going to make a great mommy someday yourself,” she said when Daisy returned with their coffees. The fudge was on the coffee table and she’d already had it open for them to dive in.

“When my time comes. I need a man first.”

“The party was great. Ivy was all about being the only one single.”

“I am too,” Daisy said.

“The only one there. She asked Luke if he had any friends or coworkers to introduce her to.”

“I’m sure he didn’t like that.”

“He merely said he didn’t,” she said. She didn’t see Luke being mean about anything, but what did she know? She didn’t know him that well and only how he was with her.

Which was great every single time. No relationship was perfect and you never knew how someone was going to be until you had your first fight.

“You don’t know,” Daisy said.

“He didn’t say anything to me about it. And Jasmine came over and told Ivy to not force it.”
