A whole lifetime with her. The thought makes me smile. There’s no ring on her finger yet — she made me promise not to propose until she’s settled in New York — but that doesn’t matter.

We’re on same page.

I remember the promise I made two years ago.

We’re going to have a good life together, sweetheart.

I smile and pull her in for one last selfish kiss. I really can’t wait to make good on that promise.

EPILOGUE: AMBER

The party isin full swing by the time we arrive. There’s a big white sign outside the door to the restaurant that reads:

WE’RE ENGAGED!

??

BAILEY & CASH

My face splits into a wide grin. My best friend is engaged to the love of her life and I couldn’t be happier. As soon as we step through the doors, the bride-to-be accosts us, her brows knit together in an uncharacteristic glare.

“First you steal my maid of honour and drag her halfway across the world with you.Thenyou have the audacity to show up late to my engagement party?” She crosses her arms and shakes her head. “Not gonna lie, Finn. It’s not looking good for you right now.”

Finn laughs and holds up his hands. “Won’t happen again, Bailey.”

“Good.” She drops the whole ‘I’m annoyed with you’ act and laughs with him. Their friendship has been an unexpected but pleasant development over the last two years. “I’m glad you guys could make it. I know it’s been hectic with the move.”

“Wouldn’t miss it for the world,” I say as I sweep her into a hug. “I’msohappy for you.Where’s Cash? I need to give him the whole ‘if you hurt her, you’ll have me to answer to’ speech.”

“You’ve not done that yet?” Finn asks, pretending to look surprised. “Bailey gave me the speech the first time we met.”

Bailey beams, looking incredibly pleased with herself. “That was just part one of the speech. Don’t worry, Finn, I’ve got an extra special round two locked and loaded for whenever you pop the question.”

“Give me a couple months,” Finn says with a grin.

“Ooh,” Bailey throws me a wink. “Back to back weddings, I like the sound of that.”

I roll my eyes. “Tonight is aboutyou. And Cash. Wherever he is.”

Bailey nods to the large table that cuts across the middle of the room. They’ve hired the entire restaurant out for the night and rearranged the seating so everyone can fit on the one table. Cash is standing near the top end, nodding politely to something Bailey’s father is saying.

As if he can sense her seeking him out, he looks up suddenly and catch his future wife’s eye. It’s sweet watching the way his face immediately lights up when he spots her. He excuses himself from the conversation with her father and practically sprints across the room to get to Bailey.

He slides an arm around her shoulders as soon as he’s within touching distance, tucking her into him. From the look on her face, there’s nowhere she’d rather be.

“Amber’s got a threatening speech for you,” Finn says helpfully after we’ve gone through a round of hugs and congratulations.

Cash laughs. “I’d expect nothing less, but there’s no need. Dane’s already given it to me.”

“That doesn’t count,” I say. “Dane might be her brother, but he’s alsoyourbest friend. He’s playing both sides.”

“What am I playing now?”

Dane shimmies into the little circle we’ve made. His eyes are bright, his face is sweaty, and I’m pretty sure there’s a lipstick stain on the collar of his shirt. I’m not the only one who notices it, because Bailey rolls her eyes and scoffs.

“Some poor girls heart, I bet.” She flicks his collar and scowls up at him. “You’ve been here for less than an hour. Do I even want to know whose lips have been all over you?”
