“Thank you. Three million is a lot, and I get the feeling it is a distraction.” Titan nodded. “Alert me with any updates.”

“Will do.” The dispatcher grinned. “Get home.”

Titan nodded and flew home.

Blood surrounded the cabin, and Titan brought her weapons online. She landed and looked at the bodies that were still left and the drag marks that showed they were being hauled elsewhere.

She called into the house. “Amadine!”

Amadine’s voice came from inside. “I am good. Geero took care of them.”

Titan slumped in relief. “I want to see you.”

“I am making cocoa.”

“For who?”

“You. Eleven marshmallows.” Their codeword foreverything is finemade Titan relax more.

“I am just going to clean up. I should be in in a few.”

“There is one outside my bedroom. I think he’s still moving.”

Titan walked around and found the man on the ground, wearing claw marks across his chest and belly. She fired a spike through his head, ripped his com off his arm, scooped him up, and gathered the others. She followed the blood trail and found Geero covered in blood and slogging back to the cabin. He looked and pointed back behind him. “Over there.”

She nodded and dropped the bodies over the crevice then she knelt and made the rocks tumble down the hill to cover all the dead. There were about twenty.

Geero was rubbing himself with snow when she got back to the cabin. She paused. “You can use the shower in my room. I don’t really have a guestroom.”

He chuckled. “Can you rub snow on my back?”

She scooped up clean handfuls and rubbed his back fur. When he was a weird pink all over, he headed to the steps.

His head lifted. “Is that cocoa?”

“It’s for me. If you are lucky, I will share.” She chuckled, and Titan walked into the house behind him. She gently smacked his butt, but he still stumbled forward.

He turned to look at her in astonishment. “Really?”

“What? I thought it was a thing we were doing.” She snickered and got out of her armour. “You didn’t specify rules.”

He looked at her and growled.

“Go take a shower, pinky.”

He snorted and walked to her bedroom. She walked to the gestation canister in the study and spoke to the little girl curled in the cylinder. “Hey, little one. I am still not sure of your name, but I have been reminded of a few things and have an idea.”

The baby’s hand flexed and waved.

“Hello back at you.” She whispered, “We have a boy visiting, but don’t worry. He’s nice.”

“Thanks. I think you are nice, too.”

She whirled, and Geero stood there with his white hair finger-combed and a towel low around his hips. She fell on her ass. “Holy snowballs!”

His body was a hard sculpture. He grinned. “Look all you like. I worked hard on this.”

“Uh... I will find you something to wear.” She was trying to find a safe place for her gaze to rest.
