“So, how big is your family?”

He shrugged. “One uncle, two aunts, and my mom. A buddy that is as close as a brother to me. All are married with kids. I am the only single active in my branch of the family.”

She nodded. “Only single one?”

He chuckled. “How did you know?”

“From my readings and Amadine’s research, you are engaged in a slow courtship.”

Geero sighed. “How slow?”

She turned her face to his. “I have no idea if I can even be physically intimate with someone. Like... physically. Everything was trashed, and I was never that familiar with the area, to begin with.”

“I can help you figure things out. Your scent is right and hot.” His blue eyes glittered. “I can take a look if you would like.”

She opened and closed her mouth with a snap as his aunt returned.

Enkari was smug. “Fifteen thousand below your offer. They are delighted to have such a prestigious defender in the neighbourhood.”

“Oh, are these the ones who just moved to a larger property because Yalida and the kids moved into the neighbourhood?”

She chuckled. “Those are the ones. So, I am waiting for their signature on the contract, and then we can finalize the sale. The possession can happen within the week for either property. Are you ready to sign your life away?”

“Well, the other three properties left me cold, so it had to be this.” She smiled, and when the documents were ready, she signed her life away. Well, she signed away three years of income, and fortunately, she had three more just waiting. She was going to need it.

He frowned. “I thought that Amadine was going to chip in.”

“She will help furnish the homes. This lets her have one of her own if the baby is too much.”

Enkari looked at her with a smile. “You are pregnant?”

“Uh, it’s complicated.” She smiled and sighed. “But the baby is on the way. She will need a home.”

“Oh, you already know you are having a girl.” Enkari sighed happily. “I have the cutest little girl.”

“Aunt, she’s twenty-four.” Geero smiled. “Enica is not going to be happy you are talking about her like she is an infant.”

Enkari shrugged. “I am not worried. Wow. Well, Ms. Ondine, you have made my family really happy. We are going to be able to afford that holiday vacation that we have been planning for the last ten years.”

Geero snorted. “You vacation every year.”

“Yes, but with this commission, I can take them to the moon.”

Ondine shrugged. “It is just grey rock, but the view is amazing.”

Enkari blinked. “Right. I guess... you have been?”

“I have.”

“So, Ms. Ondine, do you have a significant other? Geero is hovering over you protectively, but he does it for a living, so that isn’t an indicator.”

Ondine shrugged. “I think I may be seeing your nephew socially.”

Geero chuckled. “I think I need to press my suit so that you are sure.”

“What are you pressing now?”

Enkari chuckled. “Well, I will be in touch in a few days with keys and final documents for property transfer.”
