“It was a pleasure. I don’t often get to spend time with a lady who knows about support beams and bearing walls. Definitely, not one who ignores Geero’s appearance to focus on the task at hand.”
She didn’t look at the male in question, “Aw, he isn’t that bad.”
Enkari laughed. “Right. Well, I look forward to seeing you at the family gatherings. I get the feeling we will be seeing more of you.”
Enkari shook her hand, grinned, and left.
Ondine nodded. “Well, that is one thing done.”
Geero nodded. “Yup. How do you feel about it?”
Yalida came to get the empty teacup, and she smiled. “How did it go?”
Ondine smiled. “Howdy, neighbour!”
Yalida’s eyes lit up, and she pulled Ondine out of Geero’s embrace and swung her around in a hug. When she set her down, Yalida said, “We will do whatever we can. Whatever you need.”
Ondine laughed. “Thanks. I knew you would say that.”
Yalida’s eyes crinkled. “So did I. Just like old times. Whatever you need.”
Geero chuckled. “The same goes for me. Whatever you need.”
Ondine paused and fought the blush on her cheeks. Yalida snickered.
“Right. Thank you.”
He inclined his head. “You need only call.”
Ondine nodded. “I will get right on that.”
She walked him to his car and nodded as he opened the door. “I guess I will see you soon?”
He nodded, gripped her around the waist, and pressed her against his car. He nuzzled her neck, and then his lips brushed over hers before their tongues touched, and she lost track of time.
There were teen giggles that eventually broke the kiss, and Ondine was all warm and slick. He leaned his forehead against hers. “Maybe our daughter will skip the teen angst and giggles.”
She smiled. She was getting used to the idea of sharing her daughter with more than Amadine.
She looked down and chuckled. “You are holding me.”
His hands gripped her waist and were holding her against his car.
Geero sighed and pulled her into his arms. He held her. “I don’t want to leave.”
“Don’t you have to be on call for court?”
He nodded. “I do, but I would rather be here.”
“I have to take measurements and order supplies for the construction. I will be busy.”
He gave her a serious look. “And?”
“I will call you when I have possession and the supplies so we can get building.”
He kissed her. “Of course. I gave you my number, right?”
