“Yes. And you have mine, right?”

Geero nodded. “I do.”

“Then, set me on my feet, and get going.”

He kissed her quickly and lowered her to her feet.

She chuckled. “Now go.”

Ondine stepped away from the car, and her heart softly thudded as he got in, buckled up, and closed the door. She backed up to stop herself from jumping on the car.

She bit her lip as he drove off, and she headed to the guesthouse and made a call.

Titan landed on the loading dock and was escorted into the depths of Z-Corp. Zera and Torenne were there when she arrived. “You have excellent timing, Titan. Torenne and I were having lunch at Klauz’s. So, you want a gynecological workup?”

“And diagrams or video on what scent glands should look like.” Ondine stepped out of the armour and looked at Zera. “I am tired of not knowing if I work or not.”

Zera nodded. “In that case, let’s find out.”

Torenne smiled. “It would be an honour. So, let’s get you in a butt-baring gown and get this show on the road.”

Ondine headed for the changing area. She had put this off long enough, and she really needed to know what she had to do to put herself back together.

Once she was changed, the researchers poked, prodded, scanned, and examined, and then Ondine was shown diagrams and projections of the organs she was missing.

The next part was up to her.

She pressed one hand over her belly and one hand to her neck and focused on the projections, weaving her own tissue into the proper shape.

Torenne smiled at her when she paused and panted. “Can I try to get you a little further?”

“This is going to hurt, right?”

“I am afraid so.”

“Go ahead.” Ondine lay still while Torenne pressed her hands to her neck.

Fire shot through her body and burned her nerves, but Ondine had had worse. She just waited.

The doctor moved around her and pressed her hands over the right side of Ondine’s abdomen. More fire. Endless fire, but it faded. Not so endless after all.

Torenne gasped and staggered back. Zera caught her.

Ondine grabbed the handheld ultrasound unit and worked it over her abdomen. There was something there now.

She beamed at the doctor. “Thank you.”

Zera frowned. “You still are missing an ovary and a bit.”

“I know. I just wanted to make sure that the mechanics were sound.”

Zera raised her brows.

“My sister has been matchmaking, and I am interested in the prospect.” Her cheeks were pink.

Zera smiled. “I am glad you are taking an interest. So, who is the lucky creature?”

“An alpha from Aksalla. Amadine has been hiring him for platonic dates for months through the BDC.”
