“Amadine... but she’s six.”

Ondine sat up and pulled her gown down.

Zera sighed. “Yeah, we have to clamp down on that.”

“Don’t be too upset. I think she used my identification and accounts. She can also hack just about anything as long as the tech is clean. Not sure how exactly she managed to get dates to visit.”

Torenne laughed. “She sounds enterprising.”

“She bought the sperm of her favourite escort and used it to grow a daughter for me.” Ondine smiled. “She’s due in a few weeks.”

Torenne grinned. “Congratulations.”

Zera was looking stunned. “There is already a baby?”

“Yeah. Amadine bought an incubator. There has already been an attempt to obtain it, so we have moved closer to the city and are making a secure home near friends.”

Zera asked, “Do the agents and defenders know?”

“No. I guess I need to check my Uraddan refugee paperwork. If there isn’t a clause that lets me take off time for family leave, there could be a problem.”

Zera bit her lip. “You could always join the BDC. There is a huge demand for omegas recently.”

She gave Zera a look through her lashes. “I just started getting my junk working and found a guy to curl up with on cold nights. I don’t want to ring a dinner bell.”

Zera nodded. “Fair enough. I can hire you as a security chief here if you need it.”

“I don’t think that would be appropriate.” She smiled. “I am spending the first six months with the baby. She would look conspicuous strapped to my chest.”

Zera nodded. “Right. If you have any trouble with the Aksallans, let me know. I can have an attorney ready for you.”

“I think I will be fine. I don’t spend nearly as much as people think. Titan rarely gets its nails done.”

Zera sighed. “Seriously. If you need a lawyer, there is no one better than Vikor.”

“Um. Okay. Thank you. He’s one of the Elf Star Consortium, right?”

“Yes. Oh, right. You work with Remark.”

“Now and then.”

Zera scowled. “I thought that he invited everyone he worked with.”

“He invites. I don’t go.”

“Right. Of course. How are you feeling? I know that Kritz usually does your checkups.”

“Better. I am less metal by the day.” She pulled her suit into position and sealed it, folding her gown into a tight bundle before she dropped it into the hamper. “I am going to have to go shopping for me before I can go looking for baby stuff.”

Zera smiled hopefully. “I am good at shopping.”

Ondine looked her over. “I am afraid that your clothing tastes are outside my price range. No offense. I am looking at the standard department store offerings.”

Zera shook her head. “You are too curvy to be fit easily. I know a few custom shops that are reasonable.”

Ondine paused. “I will think about it. Maybe I will just mail-order stuff and call it a day. I plan on being a homebody with the baby. Getting her her stuff will be most important.”

Zera smiled. “Have a baby shower.”
