The twins stare at their eldest brother with wide eyes. “Are you serious, Rory? He bought you lingerie in your exact size?”

They suddenly burst into explosive laughter. Seth scowls at them and this time, his annoyance is real.

“Shut up!” he roars.

“Oh, I can’t—” Oliver says, choking with laughter. “You run away from women all the time and here you are picking out perfectly sized lingerie for them!”

“Where did you hide those talents, Seth-bear?” Simon goads.

Sinking into the couch, I sip my coffee with a big smile on my face. The twins are back to teasing Seth mercilessly.

A desperate hope burns in my chest. Could I truly become part of this incredible pack?

Since Seth has decided to go shop for Rory’s new stuff, Simon and I make our way toward Rory’s home.

“Do you think Rory’s going to be okay on her own?” Simon asks as we drive through an expressway leading to Maplewood. “I don’t like leaving her alone like that.”

“We won’t take long to gather her things,” I say as the car speeds down the road. “Mayor Bailley’s housekeeper will help us pick her stuff and we’ll be back home before she realizes we’re gone.”

Simon hums in agreement but I can feel his desperation to go back home soon. After learning about Rory’s past, we’re both worried about leaving her in a strange home.

It’s not long before we drive into a posh suburban street in Maplewood.

“Is that the mayor’s house?” Simon asks, staring ahead at the beautiful mansion at the end of the street.

“Yep,” I say, glancing at the GPS dashboard. “That’s the one.”

Simon slowly drives forward and stops the car outside the tall gates of the property. We step out together and head toward the security guard who’s squinting at us.

“Hi,” Simon says with a friendly wave. “We’re here to collect Rory’s stuff for her.”

A surprised expression comes over the man as he stares between me and my brother. “Are you guys twins or something?” he asks.

Wrapping my arm around Simon’s shoulders, I pull him closer. “What’d you think?” I ask. “Don’t we look alike?”

The guard nods as one of his companions comes toward the gate.

“Who is it, Sam?” the newcomer hollers.

“Uhh...” The guard looks up at us as we grin at him. “Who did you say you were?”

“I’m Oliver and this is my brother, Simon,” I say, gesturing at my brother. “Can you let us in, my man?”

The guard opens the gate and steps away. “The mayor isn’t home,” his companion tells us. “Miss Rory’s not home either. Are you sure you want to wait until they come back?”

“Actually, we’re here to see Heather,” I say. “The mayor said she’ll be home.”

“Oh, yeah,” Sam says with a nod. “Heather’s home.”

“Will you look after our car for us?” Simon asks, playing with the keys.

“You can drive it inside,” Sam says, opening the gate wider.

“Thanks, pal,” Simon says, winking at the guard.
