“Oh, yeah,” says Oliver. “Heather sent over all your art stuff. You can sketch and paint while we’re away. She said you can spend days without stepping outside when you’re painting.”

Surprise flickers through me. “You met Heather?”

“Yep,” Simon says, grinning. “She got very interested in us when we told her we’re your mates.”

“What?” I squeak. “You told her that?”

“Hey, she approves of us!” Oliver quips, pretending to look offended.

I shake my head, chuckling wryly. “She’ll want all the juicy details from me. I’m going to have to make up a lot of stories to convince her.”

“Just tell her what we told your dad,” Simon offers.

“You don’t understand,” I tell them. “Heather will wantallthe details, starting from the moment we met. She’ll want all the ‘how’s and ‘when’s from me.”

“Don’t worry about it,” Oliver says with a somber look. “We told her you’re trying to forget your ex and that you’ll need some time before opening up about what happened between you guys. Heather seemed to understand that you need space to recuperate from your heartbreak. She loves you, you know.”

I nod, looking down at my empty plate. “I know. Heather’s been like a mom and grandmom to me. That’s why it’s been so hard to tell her anything. It’ll break her heart if she ever knew what happened to me.”

Seth lays a gentle hand on my shoulder. “Then, we won’t tell her anything. We’ll protect her from learning the truth.”

“You can talk about the shitty details with us and lighten your load,” Oliver says with a cold, steely look in his eyes. “We’ll use your pain as fodder when we’re questioning the insurgents we captured during the raid. It’ll help us loosen their tongues so we can capture all their leaders and supporters.”

“We’re here for you when you’re ready to talk,” Simon says, his eyes lit with the same cold emotion as Oliver’s. “You don’t have to suppress anything from us. We promise to avenge you, Princess. We’ll chop off their balls for daring to ever touch you.”

“Why don’t you guys take her to the living room and I’ll finish cleaning up in here,” Seth offers after a while.

“You don’t have to do that,” I say at once. “Let me help around here for a change.”

“Are you sure?”

I nod enthusiastically. “It’ll keep me busy.”

A look of understanding descends in his green eyes. “All right, then. I’ll leave it all up to you.”

Standing up from my chair, I follow Seth and his brothers into the living room.

“Oh, wow,” I breathe, stepping inside the room. “You guys brought in all this last night?” Rolls of wallpaper, fabrics, stuffed shopping bags, and stacks of cardboard boxes litter the living room floor.

“Yep,” Simon says, grinning. “It was a team effort.”

“You’re not going to be bored, Princess,” Oliver says, kissing my cheek. “You’ve got this mountain of crap to sort through.”

A snort escapes me. He’s right.

“Let us know if anything’s missing,” Seth says, pulling me against him. “We’ll buy them for you on our way home tonight.”

I melt against him as he kisses me.

“Hey, my turn,” Simon says, pushing Seth away.

His lips capture mine the moment Seth moves away.

I moan into his mouth as his familiar taste spreads on my tongue.

Warmth floods my chest while my knees feel weak and I’m grinning like an idiot when he finally breaks away.

Seth grabs a sleek briefcase and signals at his brothers. “It’s time.”
