“It sucks that there are programs like these in place.”

“Yeah,” everyone mutters, grudgingly agreeing with me.

“The silver lining is that they’ll have a chance at a better life,” says Raiden. “Their scars may remain, but it’ll just be that. Scars. They’ll stay forever as reminders but they won’t hurt anymore.”

I look up at the giant alpha before me. Despite his size, Raiden is surprisingly gentle.

Moving closer to Seth, I grasp his hand. “I’m ready to go home now.”

“Are you okay?” he asks, his green eyes heavy with concern.

I nod. “Much better. At least, I’m not leaving here feeling utterly lost and depressed. Even though it’s not much, there’s still hope. We just need to be patient and wait for them to heal.”

“The same goes for you too, love,” Seth says, pressing his lips to mine in a gentle kiss. “Time is the only thing that can heal your wounds.”

“Time and you,” I say, wounding my arms around his neck and deepening the kiss.

I feel two more bodies pressing against me. Oliver and Simon are holding onto both me and Seth. Surrounded by them, I feel warmth and safety stealing through me. As long as they’re with me, I don’t have to be afraid of anything.

“Come on, let’s go home,” Simon says as he steps back. “I don’t know about you guys but I’m starving.”

“How far is downtown Maplewood from here?” I ask.

“Not too far,” Oliver answers. “Maybe a mile or so?”

“Great! How about we try out The Loaded Fork?”

“Ooh! Sounds promising,” Simon says, his eyes shining with interest. “What do they offer hungry hogs like us?”

A chuckle escapes me. “They’ve got everything from steaks to overloaded pies. It’s my dad’s favorite place to go.”

“Yes!” Simon growls, staring at his brothers. “Let us go or I’ll eat you two. Rawrr!” He ends up biting Seth’s arm.

“Get off me!” Seth pushes him away, rubbing the spot where Simon left his teeth mark.

“Are you coming, Raiden?” Oliver asks.

Raiden shakes his head with a wry grin. “I’ll be here on duty until tomorrow afternoon. You guys go ahead and have fun. I’ll see you around soon.”

Oliver and Simon thump his back and shoulders before coming over to me and Seth.

I glance back at the kids playing in the distance before following Seth back inside the building. He and his brothers guide me through a network of hallways until we go back to the lobby at the front entrance.

“I’ll go get our car,” Seth says as we step through the doors.

“We’ll wait here with her,” says Oliver.

Seth gives a nod and hurries away.

“Are you sure you’re feeling well enough to go to a restaurant?” Simon asks.

“Yeah. I’m feeling much better now. Honestly.”

Stepping closer, he gently brushes his thumb over my cheek. His blue eyes shimmer with an intensity that sends my heart throbbing.

I’ve never felt this way about anyone else. Only Simon and his brothers can make me this desperate with a mere look.

“Do you want me to take care of you tonight, Princess?” he asks in a hoarse voice.
