Reaching out, I touch the surface of the cool glass to make sure it’s really a mirror because the woman staring back at me is a stranger. Her cheeks are so hollow, her bony jaw juts out at a weird, ugly angle. Her pale eyes are too large for her face and the strands of her dark hair are twisted into thick matted locks.

Tears pool in my eyes as I struggle to find a resemblance to my old self.

Gripping the edge of the sink, I let the tears stream down my face.

The Black Widow took so much from me. My body is nearly skeletal. I don’t even look like a human anymore. Just how long was I in those hellish cages to become this way?

A knock sounds at the bathroom door. “Rory?” Seth’s voice calls out to me. “Are you okay in there?”

“Yeah, I’m coming out,” I answer, turning away from my pitiful reflection. There’s dried cum all over my thighs but I decide to take care of it later. Right now, I need some food in my groaning, grumbling stomach before worrying about anything else.

The delectable smell of pancakes wafts into my nostrils as I step out of the bathroom.

My gaze immediately falls on the tray that Seth’s holding. There’s a large plate of food with a mug of steaming coffee beside it.

“Is that for me?” I ask, rushing to him.

“Yep,” he says, placing the tray on the bed. “I shouldn’t have brought you all that junk last night. It’d have been better to drive a couple more miles to go to a supermarket and buy you some real food.”

“It’s not your fault I ate like a pig,” I say, sitting down on the bed.

“Here,” he says, picking up the plate of food and handing it to me. “Tell me what you think of my cooking.” He smiles, attempting to make me feel at ease.

My gaze focuses on the tall stack of fluffy pancakes that are dripping with syrup. There’s also a generous mound of scrambled eggs and bacon on the plate.

I want to tell him he’s brought me heaven on a plate. Instead, I silently pick up the form and dig into the pancakes.

“Mmm,” I moan as the sweet flavor of maple and vanilla overtakes my senses. The pancakes are perfectly cooked and so delicious that I stuff a whole one into my mouth.

“Rory, slow down,” Seth reminds me as I shovel scrambled eggs into my mouth. “You’ll choke if you keep going this way.”

“I’ll be fine,” I say, waving my hand.

Next, I pick up the warm mug and take the first sip of coffee. “Holy mother of...” I take a second sip, savoring the taste of the dark brew. “This is so damn good.”

“I can bring you more,” Seth says, smiling at me. “There’s a whole pot in the kitchen.”

I nod, continuing to devour the delicious breakfast.

“Can I get more food?” I ask, staring up at him hopefully.

“Sure, but we’re waiting until lunchtime,” he says with a grim look. “You’ve eaten a big enough breakfast, Rory. Let your stomach get accustomed to eating proper food again. If you keep overeating and throwing up, you’ll get sicker and weaker.”

A primal part of me is desperate to eat more but I resist its mad call.

Seth is right. I need my stomach to hold the food I’ve just eaten. My body feels so weak, the mere thought of having to puke makes me want to pass out.

Reluctantly, I put my knife and fork down.

“What’s the date today?” I ask.

“It’s 5thMarch,” he replies.

The last date I remember is the tenth of December. A quick count in my head makes me realize that I’ve been down in those cages for almost three months.

“How long were you in there?” Seth asks, looking at me closely.

“Almost three months.” A stuttered breath escapes me. “It feels like three decades though.”
