“It’s just a feeling.” Aurora seemed different from the last time I saw her. Last year, she’d been smiling and mingling with the crowd. She hadn’t been so reserved and afraid of people.

Something must’ve happened to her and somehow, Seth’s connected with it.

My curiosity adds fuel to my desires. “Let’s go,” I say, walking out of the exhibit hall.

Both my brother and I look toward the corridor in the east. Our brief interaction with Aurora has been enough to enable us to track her scent.

“She’s not here but you can tell which direction she went,” Simon says, mirroring my surprise.

“Yeah.”

“She’s our mate,” he says, his face lighting up with wonder and excitement. “I have no doubt about it. Damn this! We should’ve approached her last year. We could’ve gotten to know her so much sooner.”

“Are you forgetting the lecture Seth gave us back then?” I say, frowning. “He wanted us to be honorable and shit while another guy spent the whole evening with our girl.”

“That same guy shirked off his responsibilities right after a raid and disappeared for a week,” says Simon with a puzzled expression. “We’ve got to find out what happened between him and Aurora.”

I nod, walking alongside him.

Our elder brother is the most boring soul on the planet but we love him from the bottom of our hearts. He’s our leader and our best friend. Simon and I always get up to some trouble or the other, but he’s always there to protect us.

I’m sure something drastic happened to Seth over the past week. My protective instincts flare up, urging me to find out the mystery that caused our brother to abandon everything and disappear without a word to us.

We catch a faint drift of Aurora’s scent in the air and walk around the bend in the corridor.

“Where exactly did she plan to go?” Simon asks as we walk through the hallways of the manor. “We’ve gone around in circles thrice already. Do you think she lost her way to the exhibit?”

The trail has left me feeling confused as well.

“Seth! Seth, help me!” A desperate cry shatters the silence of the deserted hallways.

Simon’s head whirls toward me.

“That’s her,” I say, breaking into a run.

The wild urgency in her voice sends a sliver of fear through me.

“Is Seth supposed to be here tonight?” Simon asks, jogging beside me.

“No. The last I saw him, he could barely move. There’s no way he’s come here with his broken body.”

My brother and I come to a skidding halt as we finally come upon Aurora.

“Who the fuck’s that?” Simon growls from beside me as we see a tall man holding our Aurora in his grip. She’s shouting and crying, desperately fighting against him but he’s not letting her go.

A deep growl vibrates in my chest. Rage, like I’ve never felt before, blazes in my chest. Howdarehe hurt her?

“Stop resisting and obey!” the man hisses.

“No,” Aurora screams, digging her heels. “Let me go!”

“Stop shouting, omega. There’s no one here to hear you.”

“You wanna bet on that?” A lazy, careless voice speaks from beside me. Simon’s gait is casual but I don’t miss the rage simmering in his eyes.

The asshole pauses. Keeping his steely hold on Aurora, he turns around to face us.

I finally recognize the man who’s dared to touch Aurora. He’s a military official from a different pack. He’s older than us and holds a rank higher than me and my brothers. Does he have no shame to be behaving so disgustingly with a young omega?
