“That’s my home,” says Seth, pointing to the rising manor in the distance.

The Burtons’ home looks like a castle. Intricate carvings and ornate decorations cover the outer walls, reminding me of their ancient past. At present, they’re among the most powerful military packs in the country.

Seth leads me up a short flight of stairs to reach the main entrance door.

Simon and Oliver rush forward and push the heavy mahogany doors. “Welcome home, Rory,” they say in unison and grin happily.

My pent-up breath gushes out as I step across the threshold with Seth. Nervousness and excitement crash inside me. I can’t believe I’m standing in Seth’s home!

They lead me into a vast, luxurious hall that’s filled with chic, crimson-colored furniture that is in direct contrast to the cream walls and curtains. Polished black titles gleam beneath our feet. Vividly-colored and oddly-shaped vases dot every corner.

The pieces of modern art and furniture adorning the place stun me.This looks like my dream living room, I think, gazing at the crimson-hued couches.

“Mom!”

“Ma!”

Simon and Oliver holler loudly. Their voices echo around the vast hall as they stomp toward a corridor and disappear beyond it.

“Look who’s here!” I hear their shouts even if I can no longer see them.

“What happened?” A panicked female voice answers from somewhere in the distance. “Is someone hurt?”

“My brothers are idiots,” Seth mutters to himself. “I told them not to shout and stomp around like that. They’re needlessly making her anxious.”

The next moment, I see the twins coming back to the living room with a beautiful woman between them. Long, golden curls tumble down her shoulders and her bright blue eyes match the twins’.

“Rory, this is our mom,” Simon says, standing next to the beautiful omega.

“Mom, this is Rory,” Oliver says, rushing over to my side. “She’s our girlfriend.”

Surprise spreads through her features as she stares at me.

“Stop kidding around,” Seth mutters. “You’re lucky she agreed to come here.”

Suddenly, I’m very aware of the baggy clothes hanging off my bony frame. My cheeks warm as I lower my gaze and unconsciously scoot closer to Seth.

“Hi, Rory,” Seth’s mom speaks in a gentle voice. “I’m Valerie.”

Looking up, I find that she’s standing right before me.

She steps closer to me and wraps her arms around me, pulling me into a warm hug. “Welcome to our home, dear.”

The smell of sweet peaches wafts into my nostrils.

“Whoa,” she whispers, breaking away. “You smell like peaches too.”

A surprised chuckle escapes me. “Yeah, and so do you!”

“She smells different from you, though,” Oliver says, leaning against me and letting his nose skim against my neck. “There’s a hint of vanilla and cloves under your peach scent.”

“Imagine being attracted to a woman who smells like yourmom,” Simon says, making a horrified face.

Valerie hits Simon’s arm, making him cry out like she’s just broken his bone. Shaking her head, she glances at me. “Would you like to join us for lunch, Rory?”

Happiness bubbles inside me at once. “That’d be great, Mrs. Burton.”

“Call me Valerie,” she says, flashing me a bright smile.
