Two tall figures rush inside the room, calling out for me.

“Rory!” Oliver shouts. “What’s he doing to you?”

“Let go of her, Seth, or I’ll fucking kick you in the balls,” Simon’s voice reaches me next.

They both come to a sudden halt before us, breathing like angry bulls.

“What the hell’s the matter with you?” Seth hisses through clenched teeth. “Can’t you see she’s coping from a mental breakdown? You both need to shut the fuck up and close that fucking door. She doesn’t like too much light when she’s feeling this way.”

Surprise flickers through me. It’s amazing how much he’s observed me during our time in that old hunting lodge.

“Rory, are you okay?” Oliver asks in a deadly grim tone. “You don’t have to be afraid of him. We’re both here to protect you.”

“That’s right,” Simon agrees with the same intensity. “We can guess something happened between you two during the week he disappeared. If you tell us the truth, we’ll fight him for you.”

“Fight me?” Seth scoffs. “You’re both a pair of morons.”

“Do you want to test me?” Oliver says in a threatening tone and grabs the front of Seth’s shirt.

“Stop!” I cry out, alarmed. “Seth has always been protecting me. You guys are misunderstanding him!”

Stepping back, Oliver stands beside Simon. They both have identical looks of confusion and curiosity on their faces.

“Enough with the suspense,” Simon says with a serious look on his face. “How do you know each other?”

“You have no right to ask her that,” Seth answers immediately.

A cold, hollow chuckle escapes Oliver. “What about you, Bruh? Can’t we askyouabout it?”

Seth glares at the twins. “It’s none of your business. Now, get the hell out of here.”

I don’t like the cold aggression between them. Their hostile tones are bringing back my panic. I’d rather have the twins go back to their silly, mischievous selves who tease their big brother mercilessly.

The bond between the three brothers is too precious. I can’t let it fray because of me.

“Seth rescued me from the underground cages,” I say loudly, attracting Simon and Oliver’s attention on me. “I was one of the omegas he rescued from those godforsaken bunkers.”

“What?!” Simon and Oliver gasp in unison.

“Rory, what’re you doing?” Seth says. “You don’t have to tell them about any of that. I can handle my brothers on my own.”

Glancing back at the twins, I continue. “I tried to run when the soldiers brought me out of there. Seth dashed after me to get me back, but the moment he found me, he realized I was going into heat.”

Seth’s body hardens against me. He’s dead against me revealing my secrets to anyone else but I’m willing to take a chance with Oliver and Simon.

They’ve both made me realize how much I yearn for their attention and closeness too.

I was a fool to let go of Seth. There’s no way I’m making the mistake of shunning Oliver and Simon too.

Seth’s acceptance and constant support are giving me the courage to own up to the truth. The twins might get disgusted when they know of my past as a sex slave to the Black Widow but it’s better than playing a charade.

I want them to see me the way I truly am.

Broken and bruised.

That’s the woman I am and both Simon and Oliver deserve to know the truth before getting involved with me. I don’t want to trick them by hiding the stark reality of who I am.

“Seth abandoned his post for my sake,” I say, gazing up at them. “He took me away to an old cabin in the woods and helped me through my heat. I took out all my rage and hate on him but he never retaliated. He stayed by my side and watched over me constantly. The only times he left me were to buy us food and water.”
