Mayor Bailley clears his throat loudly.

It’s a struggle to tear my gaze away from Rory but I look toward her father.

“I’ll visit her often,” he says in a gruff tone. “I’ll take her away the moment I realize she’s not happy here.” A cold look settles in his eyes as he meets Seth’s gaze. “You’ll be sorry if you ever hurt her.”

“Dad!” Rory huffs. “Please!”

“It’s all right,” Seth says with a calm expression. Pulling Rory closer, he continues to caress her head gently while keeping his gaze on Mayor Bailley. “My brothers and I will protect her with our lives, Sir. You have our word.”

His voice is so sincere, we’re all staring up at his somber face.

“Good,” Mayor Bailley finally relents. He gazes at Rory who’s holding onto Seth unconsciously, refusing to let go of him.

I yearn for her to trust me the same way she trusts him.

A sigh escapes Mayor Bailey. “I’m leaving now, then. Come give me a hug, sweetheart.”

A small frown twists her luscious lips when she lets go of Seth and walks toward her dad.

Mayor Bailley chuckles at her pouting face as he hugs her.

Despite his sudden interruption, I’m glad Rory’s got a good father who worries about her. She will always have me and my brothers at her side but she also needs her friends and family around her. Together, we’ll strive to put her heart back in place.

My heart races in my chest. The prospect of living with Seth and his brothers is both exhilarating and scary.

“Would you like to go see our new place?” Oliver asks, flashing me a bright grin.

“Our...new place?”

“We think it’s best if you stayed with us in a separate cottage,” Seth explains. “You won’t have to deal with anyone else while you’re there. The whole place will belong to you and you’ll be free to do what you like.”

“The cottage is situated inside this estate, so you’ll have the world’s best security force guarding you at all times,” Simon says, winking at me. “You won’t ever have to worry about being attacked as long as you’re here.”

“Yep,” Oliver agrees. “This is a military base, so there are a lot of men here but they’ll all know you belong to us, Rory. No one will dare to touch you. Hell, we’ll make sure no one even looks at you the wrong way.”

Seth gives a grim nod. “Even if we’re away on a job, you’ll always be protected. If you ever get lonely, you can always come to the house and have a chat with Mom. She absolutely adores you, Rory, so she’ll love to have you around.”

A deep emotion rises within me.

These men want to protect me. Nothing matters more to them than making sure I’m safe and happy.

An unseen bond seems to have formed between me and them, linking me to the three Burton brothers. I’ve never felt an emotion as powerful as this before.

Alpha...my mind whispers.

At this moment, I finally realize what it is.

The omega within me recognizes the three alphas standing before me. She yearns to belong to them.

“Rory, are you okay?” Seth asks, looking at me closely.

“Why have you gone so quiet?” Simon asks, laying a gentle hand on my shoulder.

I stare into the deep blue of Simon’s eyes and feel myself sinking into their depths.
