“Have you ever noticed that you’re happy when you’re the one controlling the camera? Dictating the shots?”

Now that he’d pointed it out, it seemed so obvious. As long as I wasn’t being manhandled and manipulated like a mannequin by a photographer, told what to wear, how to pose, I loved taking pictures.

“You did a damn good job with those photos at the diner of you and me together,” he said.

A pleased blush crept into my cheeks.

“Those are my favorite. Probably the best pictures I’ve ever taken in my life.”

I traced the buttons on his shirt with one fingertip, sliding past his collar to reach the hollow of his throat and his warm skin.

“It helps to have an incredibly attractive and photogenic subject though,” I said. “You could make a killing as a model, you know.”

He hummed a soft laugh, the vibration of it rumbling beneath my fingers.

“You’re the only photographer I’d want to work with.”

“That’s a good thing, since I would probably get too jealous seeing you work with anyone else anyway.”

Axel slid his hand beneath my chin with aching gentleness, his thumb anchored at the swell of my lower lip, and he tilted my head up. I leaned into his touch, and when I had to put a hand on his hip for balance, I found myself climbing into his lap, straddling him in an effort to get closer—always closer.

“Can’t say I’m thrilled with the idea of you living out of a van,” Axel replied.

“You’re the one who taught me the joy of the open road,” I countered. “Taking me on all those motorcycle rides to clear my head and escape for a little while.”

He huffed a laugh and shook his head.

“I did that to spend more time with you. I didn’t think it would come back to bite me in the ass like this.”

Then he sighed and rested his forehead against mine.

“Promise you’ll come back. You’re not…leaving me behind.”

I slid my arms around Axel’s shoulders, my heart breaking for the soft pleading in his tone.

“I’ll send you pictures every day,” I said, pressing delicate butterfly kisses to his cheeks and the corner of his mouth and the bridge of his nose. “Sexy pictures. For your eyes only.”

He groaned, closing his mouth over my neck, flattening his tongue against my pulse.

“I’ll tell you exactly how I’m touching myself,” I continued. “Thinking of you. Wishing you were there with me.”

“Fuck,” he growled. His hands fell to my hips with a fierce squeeze and he shifted beneath me. “Beth, you haven’t even left yet and you’re already teasing.”

I smiled, threading my fingers through Axel’s hair and tipping his head back. I looked down at him. His pupils were fully dark, blown wide with arousal.

“You rode that pretty motorcycle of yours all the way here, didn’t you?”

He nodded.

“Well,” I went on. “I’m sure if a certain biker happened to follow me for a few miles, I couldn’t stop him. Maybe we would end up at the same secluded location…”

Axel slid his hands lower, cupping my ass tight enough to make me squeak with surprise.

“Keep talking like that and I’ll have to leave a few marks on you as a going-away present.”

I bit the inside of my cheek at that tempting thought. He bowed his head, brushing feathery kisses along the scooped neckline of my tank top. My eyes fluttered closed. I arched against him, my nipples growing hard, pebbled beneath my bra. He cupped one breast, smoothing his thumb over it. But it wasn’t nearly enough, muted by too many layers of fabric between us.

“How long will you be gone?” he asked.
