“No, he came marching in looking every inch the badass CEO, boring suit and everything, and just took over the meeting.” The story had Charlie laughing and shaking his head like he couldn’t believe it. “I’m serious. He looked like he should’ve been running Tanner’s company instead of leading the shenanigans he’s famous for.”

Austin had told the story numerous times from his point of view, so I wasn’t oversharing, but I loved the way it made Charlie smile. To some people, Austin stories were cautionary tales that made them nervous, but he seemed to think Austin was incredible.

I hoped to hear why at some point, but for the time being, I was doing my best to keep our evening light.

“They didn’t know what hit them.” Grinning, I reached for my water and took a sip. “But that’s one of the reasons I don’t mind working for him. The stories are always great and make up for a lot of the drama.”

With his beaming smile, Charlie looked adorably innocent and every inch the little he’d been when I’d first met him but I knew there were more wicked things hiding in him. “He’s wonderful.”

And had clearly saved the day for Charlie at some point, but I was going to leave that untouched until he was ready to share. “He’s naughty and stirs up trouble, but I think that’s why you like him so much.”

A blush tinged his cheeks as Charlie widened his eyes and shook his head. “No, I’m very good.”

His gaze darted around the room but we were far enough away from any other table that I wasn’t worried, and it looked like neither was Charlie because he leaned closer. “I’m a very good boy.”

Making an exaggerated thinking expression, I shrugged. “You keep saying that but I’m not sure I believe it.” That earned me an even brighter smile that didn’t help shed his innocent air. “I see a very sweet-looking boy with a naughty side.”

One who hadn’t found many Doms who could give him what he needed.

Giving me a cute wiggle, Charlie nibbled on his lips and couldn’t seem to decide how to respond. “I’m…I don’t lie?”

Since he couldn’t lie about loving Austin’s dirty side or try to convince me he was wicked, he didn’t know what to say?

Trying not to laugh, I nodded. “Then how about you tell me that you’re going to like making your Master very happy, sweetie?”

He worried his lip for another moment before brightening, hopefully having remembered I liked his combination of innocent and wicked. “I like making you happy, Master.”

“You do a very good job of making me happy.” Reaching across the table slowly, I traced my fingers over his and loved the shiver that raced through him. “I’ve enjoyed getting to know you and cuddling you and showing off how sweet you were to everyone in the club.”

That had his face going several different shades of red, but underneath the embarrassment, I thought I could see pleasure. Had he liked being shown off? Had he liked just the idea that everyone knew he was wanted?

“I liked being held there, Master.” The earnestness in his voice said he was being honest and gave me a good hint that it was his limit.

And I was fine with that.

As naughty as he seemed to be in private, I knew I wouldn’t miss public scenes. Besides, I didn’t need to show him off in the erotic sense, but I wanted him to know he was worthy of being bragged about.

“I liked cuddling you.” Testing the waters, I kept going. “And I really liked how many Doms were very jealous that I got to hold you.”

His blush took over his face again but the shy, slightly startled look in his eyes had flashes of something more wicked in it. “They…I don’t…”

I wasn’t sure exactly what he was saying but I shrugged and kept it light. “They can’t have you, though. You’re mine or I’ll sic Austin on them.”

That got a laugh from him as his blush faded slightly. “You’re so…”

He seemed to think it was all just fun and games, so I couldn’t resist trailing my fingers over the back of his hand as I shook my head. “Oh no, sweet boy. You know my love of contracts. Don’t make me prove how much I want you.”

Licking his lips as his eyes went wide, it took his brain a second to catch up. “You’d…you’d keep me?”

Hoping that I wasn’t walking into an unexpected minefield, I nodded. “Yes, sweet boy. I’m not going to rush you, but I knew there was something about you the first time I walked into the playroom. You pulled me in and kept pushing at my curiosity. I had to get to know you and that feeling has just grown stronger.”

I could see something working its way through his mind, but I had a clue that he was second-guessing whatever it was.

“You were even cute hiding against Austin when he was telling me what a naughty boy you were.” Doing my best to make my desire clear as I studied my nervous boy, I kept my gaze on his. “But you would’ve been blushing, not giggling, if you could’ve seen how hard that made me, sweet boy.”

The way he gaped at me said he hadn’t guessed that part. I thought that would’ve been obvious but evidently not. “I was worried I’d shock the giggly little, so I should probably be glad I didn’t scar you.”

As his mouth closed, a laugh escaped. “You were worried?”
