Everyone else seemed to question my logic but Silas shrugged. “He’s right. I checked in on the cameras a few times. They were playing cards for a while. It was fucking creepy.”

I had to agree with the strange alpha…that would’ve creeped me out to see too.

“What are they doing now?” Tristan, Dakota’s Dom and all-around keeper, seemed to be the most excited to see the nonsense they got up to, but Simon, Bradley’s alpha, wasn’t far behind and was looking just as eager.

Silas sighed but pulled out his phone again, making us wait as he pressed buttons and made more dramatic sounds. “They’re…they’re gone. Fuck.”

The shenanigans had begun.

Pulling out my phone, I found the tracking app Charlie had installed and let it do its magic. “They’re not far. In the main house, I think, if I’m reading this right.”

“Tracking app?” Simon’s voice made me nod as I studied my phone.

“Yes, Charlie was insistent.” That got good-natured snickers from around the room. “He seems to think I’ll lose him if I’m not careful, so he just did something to disable his ability to make phone calls and things like that for tonight.”

The app was also a good way for him to legitimately stalk me without having to resort to breaking into my phone. Charlie was much happier if he knew when he could tease me and just where I was in general.

“They’re already tracking each other. It’s so cute.” Tristan seemed to be the unexpected romantic in the group, and I had to wonder if it was because he dealt with Dakota so much his sense of reality had shifted.

Writers were odd but the people who kept track of them seemed to be just as curious.

I ignored the tracking comment since I wasn’t sure where that conversation would lead. “What’s southeast of here?”

“In the house?” Silas kept going without waiting for me to answer. “The main kitchen.”

Well, that was curious.

I clearly needed to add no cooking to the list of rules to keep Charlie alive.

“Do they usually cook on sleepover nights?” Glancing up, I saw a room full of confused Doms and took that to mean no. “I didn’t tell Charlie not to use appliances, so I need to actually see what he’s doing.”

Simon cocked his head and studied me oddly. “What rules did you give him?”

They were so nosy.

“No swimming. No using his phone. No leaving the grounds.” I shrugged when they just kept staring at me strangely. “I’m not stupid. I wasn’t going to give him a list of rules he was bound to break.”

Still more curious looks.

“We met at a BDSM club? Have you all forgotten that?” Good grief. There was only so much that could go wrong. “Worst case scenario they sleep together. This isn’t hard, guys. Charlie needs more friends in his life.”

Tristan was trying not to giggle for some reason, but it was Simon who shook his head. “You’re just as weird as the rest of them.”

Themseemed to really mean Silas, judging by the way Simon’s gaze darted to the tall, gruff alpha.

“Thank you?”

They really needed to work on theirwelcome to the familyspeech.

“I need to go check on my wandering sub, though, so could someone point me toward the kitchen?” The dot on the map had stayed still for just a bit too long.

That seemed to be the field trip prompt because they all stood up and started making guesses about what we were going to find. Being naked was at the top of the voting but they kept forgetting about Charlie.

Nope. Everyone would still have their clothes on at this point because otherwise someone would’ve already come to find me.

Austin had seemed slightly scarred after Charlie’s first exploration into alcohol, so there was no way things had gotten too far yet.

I was right.
