“I’m nervous,”I whispered, clutching Gaian’s hand.

We approached the highly guarded estate with Hellana, Xorgor, our warrior wolves, and an entire guard of demons who looked like they wanted to rip someone’s head off. They weren’t friendly in the slightest, as I didn’t think they actually wanted to be here. But they had no choice. Xorgor had forced them to come. Besides, it didn’t matter to me—they weren’t the scary ones because Thayer had frightened them off from looking in my direction.

“There’s no reason to be nervous,” Gaian responded, squeezing my hand.

If Dad thought I could defeat this abusive piece of shit without his help, then I … had to do it. I trusted in myself all the way up until we made it within a mile of the estate and spotted the guards spread throughout the woods.

“Believe in yourself, Sina,” Darius reassured. “You must kill him.”

“The Moon Goddess did what she did to Calder for a reason,” Thayer said. “Because he’d kill him for you. You wouldn’t grow into your full potential if he were able to walk still. You’re the only person who’ll get in close enough to kill him.”

“Okay,” I whispered, heart pounding inside my chest.

After commanding his army to be silent, Xorgor and Maxine walked over to me.

“We don’t send in anyone until you signal for it,” Xorgor said to me. “We haven’t fought against a Paragon army in decades. We don’t know what this group is capable of or if they are capable of anything at all.”

“They are,” I reassured.

I didn’t like the thought of heading into the estate with only a few close people, but Xorgor was right. Never in a million years would I put his people—and my pack—in danger without trying to eliminate the threat myself first.

Last night—without Calder—we had agreed that I would walk onto the estate first to get my father’s attention. If I could take control of the Paragons like Dad had said I’d be able to, then I would try as hard as I could and freaking hope that nobody else would have to die because of me.

After taking Hellana’s hand, I made contact with her through the Paragon vision. I’d tried it out the other night after Dad told me about it because I knew that it’d be useful. It definitely took a few tries to make contact at first, but I got it in the second try now.

“You’ll see everything that I see,” I said to Hellana. “Send in the warriors when I say.”

She’d know and inform the others about what happened inside the estate, preparing them for the worst. Before I released her hand, she pulled me into a tight hug and rested her head on my shoulder.

“I know you still feel shame about not having the courage to save my baby, but I … I’ve come to terms with it. I can have another to continue the Paragon bloodline—as long as we survive. I need you to be strong. Okay?”

“Okay,” I whispered once she pulled away. “I’ll do this for us. For Paragons.”

“For Paragons,” she repeated, giving me a trying smile.

This was all on my shoulders. The outcome of everything weighed onme.

I had to kill him.

I had to avenge all those who had died.

I had to breathe life into the next generation of Paragons.

From afar, I stared at the mansion that lay upon the estate in the distance. Hundreds of guards must’ve roamed around the forest, looking for any sign of trouble. I wondered if that asshole was actually here.

Probably or else he wouldn’t have this many guards with him.

It was now or never. No more waiting.

After sighing, I threw my arms around Gaian, Darius, and Thayer. “I love you all so fucking much. Thank you for everything that you’ve done for me over my entire life, but especially these past few weeks.”

“Don’t fucking say that shit,” Thayer growled. “You’re not going to die.”
