I expected them to leave this place, roam the world, and make lives for themselves. Instead, they just stood there and stared at me, as if I still had control of them. But Dad was right. I didn’t have complete control of them, but I had the will to inspire their deepest wishes—to reunite the Paragons, save the world, and be free.

They hadn’t been born to fight each other like this. They had been bred that way.

“You can leave,” I announced again. “You’re free.”

“Where shall we go?” one asked, looking around. “We don’t belong with any other species. We’re different animals, different creatures. We don’t have a home of our own. Nobody will accept us into theirs.”

I glanced around at the entire group, who seemed to agree, then peeked over at Gaian, who shrugged his shoulders, as if to agree with what I was thinking even though I hadn’t said a word out loud or through the mind link. He understood me so deeply.

“We can start a life together,” I whispered, smiling at Gaian, Thayer, and Darius. “Paragons need a place to live, thrive, and breed, so we are never on the verge of extinction again. I have a place we can go.”

“Gather your things,” Darius said to the group. “We’ll leave in a couple of hours.”

Once everyone departed, I walked over to my guys and placed a hand on Thayer’s abdomen, hoping that he could heal all his wounds. “Are you okay?” I whispered, brows drawn together. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t apologize,” he said. “I loved the pain. Jolted me awake.”

“I should’ve known,” I said playfully, glancing back at the mansion. “I need to go find my mom and help her collect her things. She’s coming with us.” I ordered Gaian to take care of Thayer, who growled that he didn’t need help, and jogged to the mansion.

While I had lived here for four years, I hadn’t been able to explore every inch of this place. There had to be a dungeon where the asshole kept Mom. I had gone there in my Paragon vision.

After exploring the place for ten minutes, I found my way through a secret passage and into the dark corners of a dungeon. I lit a torch and walked through the hallways, desperately trying to find a light.

When I found a light switch, I flicked it on and found myself in a long hallway with plenty of doors. I retraced my steps from my vision to Mom’s room and gently opened the door.

“Mom?” I whispered, spotting her lying on the bed.

“Sina?” she asked, widening her eyes and grasping her stomach. “Sina, what are you doing here? You shouldn’t be down here. He’ll find you and—”

“He’s dead,” I whispered, my lips curling into a smile. “I killed him.”

She widened her eyes even more, then began sobbing. “Oh, thank the gods! But what about … what about your father?” Mom whispered, sitting up against the headboard and placing her hand on her stomach, where a new baby bump had formed. She gently closed her eyes and sighed softly. “Have you found him? You seem so much stronger.”

“Yes,” I whispered, butterflies fluttering in my stomach. “He’s somewhere safe.”

“Where?” she asked, brows furrowed. “I can’t feel him through the Paragon vision.”

“He’s at my pack house with my mate.”

She reopened her eyes and took my hand. “Are you sure?”

I furrowed my brows. “Yes, I’m sure.”

“Please, contact him. I-I need to talk to him. I haven’t spoken to him in years.”

After moving onto the bed with her, I leaned against the headboard and closed my eyes. Like Dad had taught me, I tried to contact him through the Paragon vision. And while I was able to reach and connect with the Paragons outside, getting healed, I couldn’t reach Dad.

My heart pounded against my chest. “I … I can’t,” I whispered.

Desperate to connect to inform him about our win, I squeezed my eyes shut even tighter and breathed deeply. Nerves zipped through my body as I waited and waited and waited for him to answer, but I couldn’t come up with anything.

If Dad wasn’t allowing me into his view, something must’ve happened. So, I did the only thing I could and tried to contact Calder through our mind link. If that asshole had sent Paragons after him before this started, then we’d be fucked.

Calder would be in danger too.

My stomach twisted, bile rising in my throat.

“Calder,”I said desperately.“Please, answer me.”
