That was the lie I told Gaianand myself.

Gaian tensed and sat up in the bed, the blankets falling down his torso, revealing his ripped abdomen. I’d missed so much fucking time these past four years with them. I wished I could’ve been here to watch them grow, especially him.

“Sure,” Gaian said, awkwardly scratching the back of his head, biceps flexing. “If that’s what you want. We could just use condoms?”

My lips curled into a small smile, and I walked back over to him and leaned over the bed, placing my lips on his. I wasn’t sure if it was appropriate—I still didn’t know what we were; if we were mates, wouldn’t they have told me already?—but Gaian didn’t mind.

“If we used condoms, Calder would probably poke holes in them,” I said against his lips.

Though, as I said it, I wondered if they had found the diary entry that mentionedthatyet.

When Gaian opened his eyes after the kiss, his irises were golden pools. His wolf was close—so damn close—and Gaian was doing a hell of a good job at keeping him controlled right now. If it were Thayer, he would’ve grabbed me by the throat and told me that I’d enjoythatscenario—and he wouldn’t be wrong.

I was kinda fucked up. Just a little.

“Don’t tell me you want my belly full too,” I joked with a smile, gently pushing him away and walking to the door once more to head for the shower.

“Of course I do, Sina,” Gaian said. “We all do.”

“This place is so nice,”Sina said, walking into the Black Crow Café. She wore a yellow sundress that not only clung to the right places, but also had a low-cut neckline that showed off just enough cleavage. “Is it new? I don’t remember it.”

“It opened, like, three years ago,” Darius said. “I used to bring chicks here all the time.”

She scrunched her nose. “Ew.”

“Ew,” Darius teased. “At least I don’t have a handsy incubus ex.”

When she playfully pushed him, I walked up to the counter and gave the hostess my name and the number of people that would be dining with us this morning.

She handed me a menu to look over during our wait. “It should be five, ten minutes until the next table is open.”

I took the menu from her and walked back to Sina and Darius, who looked a lot more comfortable with Sina than he ever had in high school. A strand of her dark hair fell into her face, and her lips pulled up into a huge grin.

“Are you jealous, Pretty Bird?” Darius asked, smirking.

“Yes, I am.”

“And why’s that?” I asked, pushing her hair off her cheek with my middle and forefinger knuckles and really taking her in.

These past few years, all I could think about was having her again. I’d missed her smile, her laugh, the lightness that she gave us all.

“Because …” she said, crossing her arms. Her cheeks flushed. Instead of answering and owning up to the fact that she had liked us all this time too, she pulled away and shuffled a couple of feet backward. “I need to use the restroom. I’ll be back in a couple of minutes.”

“Sina!” Darius called as she scurried to the back. “You’re really gonna leave me hanging like that?”

If we were on the bad side of Durnbone, I would’ve gone into the restroom with her, but the south side of town was relatively safe.

Before she disappeared into the women’s room, she threw us a wicked grin over her shoulder. I inhaled her scent, lingering heavily in the air. My wolf was going fucking crazy inside me. Ever since last night, when Sina had come at the thought of being pregnant by one of us, I hadn’t been able to think clearly.

“Sina doesn’t know about her father, does she?” Darius asked me a couple moments later, leaning closer to me. “I heard you guys talking before we left.”

“She doesn’t know anything yet, but she doesn’t seem like one to sit back. She knows that we’re all keeping something from her—something bad. She’s going to find out one way or another.” I ran my hand through my hair. “I wish this war with her father would end for good.”
