Unable to say anything, I buried my face into Darius’s chest and cried as hard as I could. I hadn’t been able to let it out in front of anyone for years now. Nobody had held me like they did for so long.

Darius wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer to him, dragging his fingers through my hair. I tried to tell them I was sorry that I was crying, that I’d ruined our nice morning, that I’d fucking ruined everything. But I could barely talk through my sobs.

I wanted Dad to pay for everything he had done. I wanted to show him that he didn’t own me anymore. I controlled my life. I controlled who I let inside me, both emotionally and physically. And I also got to choose who made me pregnant.

With or without Dr. Stormmark’s help, I would take my IUD out of me. Only then would I be free.

“I don’t carewhat you do with him,” I said to Thayer, staring at the pathetic man who worked for Sina’s father that we had captured on an early morning raid while Sina and the guys were out for breakfast. “Just get me information.”

Thayer smirked wickedly at the man, running his fingers along the sharp edge of a blade and cutting his own flesh in the process. He drew his tongue across his wound, licking up his own blood and stalking closer to the man. “No problem.”

After deciding to let Thayer do what he did best, I walked up my underground prison steps and exited through the hatch above. Once I locked the door, I lifted my nose to the sky and sniffed the air around me.

It smelled like … Sina.

When I spotted her, she was walking back to my pack house alone.

I gritted my teeth and glared at her, wondering why the fuck she wasn’t with Darius or Gaian. If she had snuck away from them while they brought her out to fucking breakfast, I would fucking lose it. She couldn’t be walking around the forest without protection.

Not when her father was searching for her.

After looking me right in the eye—almost as if she was fucking challenging me to do something about it—Sina walked past me and into the pack house. I balled my hands into fists and stormed after her, trying to contact Gaian or Darius through the mind link, but they must’ve been out of range for it to work.

As I reached the house, Sina slammed the door in my face, knowing I was behind her.

Rage burned inside of me. Sina didn’t understand how dangerous her father was because if she did, she wouldn’t be walking around without protection. He had hundreds of people searching the forest outside of his estate for her.

“Where are you going?” I asked once I flung the door open and stepped into the house.

“To my bedroom thatyouso graciously let me have. Emphasis ongraciously.”

Before she could make it up the stairs, I grabbed her elbow and yanked her back. She stood a foot shorter than me and stared up at me, her eyes filled with annoyance and fury, like they usually were, except they looked bloodshot, as if she’d been crying.

“What happened?” I asked, instinctively knowing something was wrong with my mate.

“Nothing.”

“What. Fucking. Happened?”

She turned her back toward me. “Noth-ing.”

“Why the fuck are you so aggravating?” I said, growling at her. My gaze dropped to her throat, like it always did, my canines aching to sink into her and claim her. Maybe then I would finally be able to get inside her head and figure out what she was thinking, what she was hiding from me too.

“Me?!” she said, whizzing around on her heel to stare at me. “I’m aggravating?!”

“Yes, Sina, you are.”

“You’re the one who won’t let me out of your sight!”

“For your safety.”

“If anyone cared about my fucking safety, they would’ve helped me years ago!” she shouted, but then she immediately pressed her lips together, as if she had let something slip out of her mouth that she didn’t want anyone to know about.
