As soon as the last few words left my mouth, the witch’s face paled. “Vampire blood?”

“Yes.”

“But you don’t do magic. You’re a human.”

“Give her the fucking blood,” Thayer growled.

Once the witch placed down the herbs, she disappeared into a back room. I shifted back and forth on my feet, glancing over at the others, who all waited impatiently for her return.

“If you guys want to be strong against the potions that my father creates, then you need to be willing to drink vampire blood. Your wolf powers won’t heal you alone.”

My gaze landed on Gaian, who looked to be doing better after I gave him the healing potion this morning, but his cheeks were still a bit pale. When we got home, I would have to give him some more medicine.

“Are you sure about this?” the witch said, clutching a vial of vampire black blood.

“Yes.”

She took a deep breath and handed the vile to me. “Please be careful. This stuff is very dangerous. If you need help or directions on how to use it, please come back to my shop. One wrong move, and you’ll create a potion that’ll kill you.”

“I’ll be safe with it,” I said, paying her for the items.

Hell, Dad had already pumped me full of this stuff. Who knew that it could’ve killed me?

Back at the pack house, Gaian looked worse. While the others went upstairs, I mixed together the herbs with the vampire blood and poured it into a glass of juice in the kitchen. Part of mehatedgiving it to Gaian because this felt like what Dad had done to me. Still, he needed to get better.

Once he placed the cup to his lips and took a big sip, I grabbed the cup from him and drizzled some potion over his open wound. Even with his advanced healing abilities as a wolf, the gash had barely healed. His skin sizzled as the potion came in contact with it, some green steam almost boiling off on contact.

Gaian flexed every muscle in his body, his abdomen thick and glistening. I pressed my thighs together and reminded myself that I’d bought this to heal him, not to jump on his cock and ride him all fucking night long.

Not that either of us would mind.

I stretched my hand across his stomach and gently curled my fingers against his abs to hold him steady. “I have to do it again,” I whispered, unable to make eye contact with him because I was so much hornier than usual. “There’s still some poison inside you.”

From the corner of my eye, I caught Gaian clenching his jaw and staring at me. His gaze was so intense that I couldn’t resist the impulse to look up at him, which was a huge mistake. My heart raced, and I had an innate urge to jump on him.

He was sex. Pure, animalistic sex.

A feeling that I hadn’t experienced prior to last night with Thayer rushed through me. There was something, some compulsion that had made me rip out that IUD, bite Thayer on his neck, and become a starved, feral beast. Though … I didn’t know what it was.

After forcing myself to look away, I returned to healing his wound and poured some more potion onto it. A heap of green steam boiled off it, the wound healing only slightly. Gaian winced, muscles tensing even harder.

Heat spread throughout my body, a single bead of sweat dripping down my back.

Gods, he was making it so hot in here.

When Ifinallyfinished with him, he pulled his shirt over his abdomen and grabbed my hand. Tingles shot up my arms, my heart racing so freaking fast for some reason. Gaian must’ve felt it intensely, too, because a low growl exited his throat, and then he pulled away.

I took a deep breath and quickly turned away to put the blood and the potions away. Hopefully, we wouldn’t need it anytime soon, but I needed to make some vials of healing potion this weekend. I needed to be prepared.

“I would’ve told you about your father sooner, but … Calder wanted to keep it a secret.”

Gritting my teeth, I glared out the kitchen window. Why was Calder such an asshole? All he did was keep secrets from me and act as if Ibelongedto them. It didn’t make any sense to me, especially because I wasn’t their mate.

Okay, there was aslimchance that I was, BUT if I was, I would assume they would’ve told me by now. Or at least, their wolves would’ve taken control of them and claimed me as theirs, right?

Almost as if he knew what I was thinking, Gaian let out a low sigh and grasped my chin, forcing me to look into his desperate eyes. “There is more that Calder won’t let us tell you.” He paused for a long moment, his voice filled with nothing but sadness. “So much more.”
