She was currently in the pool with Maddie while Kaliq kept a watchful eye on them both. It had taken three days for the photos to leak from Dom’s club. I assumed it would be a possibility. I was sure Cadence had also, but whereas she was tense about the outcome, I was at ease.

I didn’t so much as flinch when photos of me kissing her during my performance showed up online. Nor did I care that they’d caught us entering and leaving the club.

Dom had called to apologize but there wasn’t much he could do to keep things like that at bay. The minute my name replaced Milo’s as the headliner for the evening, the doors were open for bloggers, reporters, and paparazzi to pay their admission fee and blend into the crowd, stealing photos with their cellphones of what should have been private moments.

I didn’t like the lack of privacy but it came with the career I’d chosen.

“What difference does it make?” she whispered, her eyes darting between me and Drew.

My gaze scanned every inch of her. The morning after my performance, she came to breakfast with a wild mane of hair framing her face.

She had cut her braids out that morning while Gracie slept. With a head full of hair that was no longer tamed, she and Gracie looked more like twins.

My beautiful girls.

“They don’t have a story, so they’re making up their own. The longer they’re left to their own fucked up imaginations…”

“The worse the stories become,” she murmured.

“Yeah.”

“It’s better to get in front of this and control the narrative instead of allowing them to fabricate their own.”

But isn’t that what we’re doing?

Telling lies?

A lie I would tell and claim a million times, for them…

Our lie will be to protect. Theirs to destroy.

“So how will this work?” She shifted, shoving her hand beneath her thighs, drawing my attention there.

Not long before Drew had arrived my head had been between those thighs giving her back-to-back orgasms. Then I was balls deep, swallowing her moans while I fucked my way toward my own.

“I have a source set up to leak copies of the DNA test and another who will release information of a bank account set up by Sol with your name on it. They will know about the deposit dated the same day as the DNA test for a hundred grand.”

Worry creased her forehead and her knee began to bounce.

“Tell me what you’re thinking,” I asked, drawing her attention to me.

“They’re going to think this is about money. That I asked you for money.”

“No, they won’t.”

“Yes, they will.”

Drew released a sigh of frustration. “You didn’t tell her.”

No.

Couldn’t figure out how.

Didn’t want to make this worse.

Cadence frowned at me and then Drew. “Tell me what.”

Before Drew could speak, I crossed the room and stood in front of her. “Dresden’s wife is threatening to go to the press and tell them you’re harassing her husband for money because he’s refusing to claim your kid.”
