She shook her head. “I won’t but thank you.”

I walked to her, roped my hands round her neck, and pressed a kiss to her forehead. “You’re welcome. Come on, I’ll show you the rest of the house.”

After leaving the bags there, I took her hand and guided Cadence down the stairs. Unfortunately our plans were instantly paused when Drew walked through the front door.

His focus was on the device in his hand so it took a minute before he realized I wasn’t alone. I hadn’t mentioned Cadence was coming with me because I wasn’t going argue with his thoughts on what a terrible idea bringing her to my home was.

She was here, he would just have to deal with it and based on the way his eyes were blazing I could almost hear the “what the fucks” firing off in his head. Drew, however, was a gentlemen so he pulled it together and forced a smile when he spoke.

“I didn’t know you had company.”

“Because I purposely didn’t tell you,” I murmured, feeling the heat from Cadence’s stare as I turned her toward Drew and then pulled her into my chest.

“Cadence this is myfriendand manager, Drew. Drew, Cadence.”

“Monroe,” he stated matter of factly because he wanted her to understand he knew exactly who she was. Drew was a gentleman, but still cutthroat when handling business. I was his business.

“Yes, pleased to meet you,” she said, dryly accepting the hand he offered.

“Same. If you don’t mind, can I have a minute with Sol?”

She glanced at me and I nodded. “Go straight back, take the hallway to the left, and that will take you to the side entrance that leads to the backyard. Pool is on the right, you can’t miss it.”

She nodded and walked away. Both Drew and I followed the path she traveled until she was no longer in sight.

“What the fuck, Sol? You brought her here, to your house?”

“Yes.Myhouse meaning the decision is mine not yours.”

“Is that the type of shit you want to pull right now? Your life, you can do what the fuck you want whether I agree or not.”

“It’s the truth.”

I walked off, heading toward my office which was on the first floor. Drew followed, closing us in once he stepped in behind me. “Do you think having her here is smart? And what about the kid?”

“She’s here too.”

“I assumed she was,” he muttered. “But that girl…”

“Cadence, notthat girl,” I corrected.

He was already frosty with me but I didn’t care. Drew was my manager and also my friend but he still worked for me. Whatever I wanted was final say and I wanted them here with me.

“You do realize what’s attached to her, don’t you?”

“You do realize there are two sides to every story? She didn’t do anything wrong.”

“In our world, the only side that matters is the one they push harder and right now. The story that’s being told is Honor Monroe is an industry commodity that accused two of the most notable and successful rappers in the game of sexual assault, then disappeared off the face of the earth only to resurface in photos with you and a kid that they now believe is your love child. The label is already on my ass, asking how I’m going to make this go away because you cannot be attached to any of the bullshit she’s associated with. Imagine my surprise when I walk in your house and the source of that exact bullshit is standing at your side.”

“You’re my manager. Manage this shit. Figure out a way to spin it and who the fuck cares if they believe Gracie is mine? Let them think what they want.”

“Have you lost your damn mind? You’re not claiming that kid.”

“Gracie,” I growled at him and Drew angled his face to the floor, pressing his tightly clenched fists into his hips, shaking his head. “Sol…”

“I don’t care, Drew. I know how it looks. I know what it means but she’s here and until she decides she wants to leave then she’s not going anywhere.”

“She asked to come here?”
