Point made.

“I’m sure she was. But I’m still worried.”

“You’re right here and so am I. Nothing is going to happen. In fact, why don’t I get in with them, just in case. You trust me with her?”

Yes.

I frowned, squinting up at him. “Don’t you trust her? You hired the woman.”

“I do but you don’t. At least not yet. If I’m close then you can watch to see how Gracie does until you trust her with Maddie.”

“You don’t have to…”

He had already tugged the bottom of his shirt and pulled it over his head, leaving only black swim trunks. He plopped a kiss on my cheek.

Friendly, affectionate, but not inappropriate if anyone had witnessed. Gracie was too busy grinning as she clung to Maddie, who was waist deep, walking around the shallow end of the pool with my baby.

My eyes danced across the sea of brown skin which was now exposed to me. The black and gray designs on his back and arms as he moved with a casual, yet sexy and confident gait toward the shallow end of the pool.

There was something erotic about a man who moved with confidence and this man moved like he owned the world and everyone in it.

Myself included because how could he not with the way I was dumbfounded by a body that I knew intimately.

“Are you learning to swim too?” Gracie shoved damp curls from her face while she loosely held onto the bright blue noodle that cradled her upper body.

“I already know how to swim but I thought I’d come watch to make sure you’re following the rules.”

Gracie’s smile stretched the expanse of her face. “Can I see you swim?”

Jaah chuckled and nodded, extending his arms out beside him and heading toward the deeper end.

“That’s not swimming.,” Gracie yelled with a frown until he disappeared under the water and reappeared with his arms slicing through the sparkling aqua blue as he moved from one end to the other. I watched in awe at how beautifully he moved, navigating fluidly until he disappeared under the water and returned, bringing Gracie with him. She threaded her arms around his neck and smiled, turning to Madeline. “Can you teach me to swim like that?”

“I can but we have to start slow. You ready?”

“I’m ready.” She nodded, diving toward Maddie who had quick hands and successfully caught Gracie before she went under. Jaah moved from the water, giving them space and lifted himself onto the side of the pool.

I was dressed in jean shorts and a tank top so I sat next to him allowing my feet to sink into the water.

“I met Synthia.”

“Yeah?”

His eyes burned through the side of my face while I kept mine on Gracie while Maddie instructed how to move her arms and legs in synchronized harmony. There wasn’t anything harmonious about my kid’s movement which had a smile on my face.

“Yeah, she’s nice.”

“She is, but if you would prefer not to have anyone here….”

“No, don’t do that. We’re your guests and I don’t want to disrupt anything. I certainly don’t want anyone losing money because of me.”

My eyes shot over to his. “I would still pay them.”

“And who would do their jobs?” I arched a brow and he shrugged.

“I can take care of myself and you can clearly take care of you and Gracie. We would make it work.”

“We would but that’s not necessary. You trust them so I don’t mind anyone being here with us.”
