“Turn around.” he demanded.

“What?” I snapped.

“Now.”

“Why?” I asked, and his grip on my shoulder tightened.

“Stop asking questions and turn this car around.” he said sharply.

I narrowed my eyes at him and shrugged out of his grip.

“So you don’t want to find her then?” I asked and barked a laugh. “Good, let the little cagna go.”

“I’ll find her.” he said coldly, and I realised that he knew.

He knew she was somewhere in the house. Good for me, I wouldn’t have to drive around with him, but had I bought her enough time? I doubted it had been more than fifteen minutes. I shouldn’t have pointed out her car and made him doubt himself. My moment of cockiness was backfiring.Shit.

I raised my brows at him to hide my panic. “Where?”

“Just turn around.” he said and this time I did as he asked.

I prayed that she had been quick with whatever she had planned. Because she had about forty-five seconds to sort her shit out and I had no way of giving her a heads up.

A loud grunt came from the direction of the gym, and I stormed down the hallway towards the noise. Adonis followed along a step behind me. As I pushed the gym door open, a blur of motion caught my eye from the far side of the room and my heart stuttered in my chest.

She washere, dressed in a black and red sports bra with matching leggings, her hair twisted into a braid with wild tendrils falling around her face. Her foot slammed into the bag hanging before her and she yelled like a fucking warrior.

“Megan.” I roared.

She stilled, turned, and pushed a lock of hair away from her damp face. Her chest was heaving, and her hands balled into fists. Her glare was ice cold, and I felt a small bubble of frustration. So much for breaking her.

She placed a hand on her hip and raised her brows at me. I ran my tongue over my teeth and strode towards her slowly.

“Whatever silly game you’re playing, it stops now.” I commanded.

“I’m not playing games Lorenzo, I’m working out.” she said, cocking her head and wiping a bead of sweat from her forehead.

“Megan.” I warned.

I would not allow her to speak to me like I was stupid. I knew that she had tried to leave. Why else would the wardrobe be a mess and half of her things gone.

“Well you found her, so I guess we can just carry on as normal.” Adonis said from the doorway.

I spun to face him, “Out.” I bellowed, but he didn’t move. Instead he leaned against the door frame and folded his arms.

“I think I’ll stay; I want to watch the show.” he said, his eyes darkening in a way that filled me with pride. Some days I wondered if he really was all I hoped he could be, and then in moments like this, I knew that he was.

Megan’s eyes snapped away from me to him and she pulled her lip back in disgust.

“There will be no show, fuck off Donny.”

I ran my thumb over my lower lip to hide a smirk. Maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing that I hadn’t broken her. So long as she kept that disgust and rage aimed at him instead of me.

“Run along son, I need to talk to my fiancé in private.”
