I pressed down on keys in a slow rhythm as I considered what to play, then I settled onRêverie,a piece that I learned in my first year of playing. I was a fast learner, although it sounded absolutely awful when I first attempted it.
Don’s fingers trailed up to the side of my neck and towards my earlobe, he began to rub the lobe between his finger and thumb.
“Do you remember when I called you out for doing this.” he whispered, only just loud enough for me to hear over the piano.
“I do.” I said, and leaned my head into his hand.
He released my ear and softly cupped my face. I sank further back into him as I continued to play.
“I’ve learned more about you, and I’ve realised that I find your little habits less irritating now. I like being able to read you, especially as no one else seems to be able to. I thought that you were too obvious about your feelings, but I now know that I only noticed because you captivated me. I’m sorry I was so hard on you babygirl.”
My fingers slowed until the noise around us stopped and I turned slowly on the stool and tipped my head up to look at him. I placed my hands on his firm stomach as he held my face in his.
“Don’t ever apologise for that. Sometimes I need hard, I need someone to piss me off who can take whatever I throw back at them. So don’t apologise, and don’t change. Ilikeyou gentle, but Ineedyou to be an arsehole. At least some of the time.”
His hands slipped to the back of my head, and he guided me up to reach his lips. My body pressed hard against his as I stood from the piano stool and his solid length ground against me as he met me with a bruising kiss. My fingers dug into his back as he held me close and pushed his tongue into my mouth. I clawed at his skin, needing more from him. I moaned into his mouth as his hands fell to my waist and his hoisted me up, my legs wrapping around him as he moved us towards the piano. He planted me on the top and broke away from me just as movement in the doorway caught our attention.
“He’s coming.” Clive said in a worried voice.
His eyes darted between me and Adonis before he spoke again. “Miss Fields, come with me.”
He held his hand out towards me, but I shook my head.
“I can handle him Clive. Thank you for warning us though.” I gave him a thankful look and he disappeared down the hall.
Don glowered at me, “Go,I’llhandle him” he snarled.
“Oh really? Canyouplay piano?” I asked, “Because no doubt it was my music that woke him up.”
“No.” Don whispered, and I gave him a hard glare.
He held my gaze in a challenge for too long. I pushed him away from me and hopped down off of the piano. He tried to stand his ground, so I did the one thing I thought might work at short notice. I shoved my hand into his sweats and grabbed his balls.
He winced and anger flashed through his dark eyes.
“I will handle him.” I said and began to twist.
He shook his head and grunted with discomfort.
I leaned in and whispered in his ear, “I can either make this really hurt, or I can sneak into your room later and put my hands to better use.”
He hesitated for a moment.
“And my mouth.” I said seductively.
There it was.
He nodded sharply and stepped away from me. He looked around the dark room and moved quickly towards the blackest corner. Now we just had to hope that Lorenzo didn’t turn on the light.
I sat back down on the stool and adjusted my robe. Ensuring I was well covered. Then began to play a soft piece of music as I waited for him to find me.
Lorenzo’s voice reached me before he made it to the doorway, and I stopped playing and spun to face him as he stormed into the room. The moment my eyes landed on his I knew I was in trouble. He was going to explode, and I had to hope and pray that Adonis stayed where he was and kept quiet. I had no idea what I’d done to make him so angry, but I was about to endure his wrath.

I sat in my apartment drinking the coffee that I’d picked up on my way here. Toby was still asleep. I was starting to feel a little concerned about his safety with how heavily he slept and made a mental note to add extra security features to the apartment.
