I flipped the folder open and skimmed the first page. My eyes began to bulge as I made my way down the page, then flipped through another, and another. I looked up at Don with a frown.

“Everything is… mine?” I breathed.

He nodded and smirked. Lorenzo had lefteverythingto me. And everything was a lot more than I ever realised. I couldn’t wrap my head around it. Had his obsession made him so delusional that he thought I would deserve this one day?

“We’re still selling the house though.” I said. “Shit. We can start whatever life we want with all of this on top of it.”

“I know.” Don said. “But I still want the life we spoke about.”

“Me too.” Toby agreed, stuffing a banana into his mouth.

“Yeah, I don’t want to change the plan. But wow, we’re never going to have to worry. With what we all already have, and then this too…” I trailed off and took another bite of apple just as Anette came in with bowls of soup.

“Anette.” I said, stopping her before she could disappear. “Question.”

As if they could read my mind, the guys nodded encouragingly, and I continued.

“Yes Miss Fields.”

“Meg. Anyway, when we move, did you and the girls want to come with us?” I asked.

Now that we had so much extra money, why not ask them to come too.

“Oh Mi- Meg, that’s an amazing offer, but we all have lives here. I have a son, he’s happy, we can’t move.” she said sadly.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t realise. Well…” I thought for a moment. “I’ll make sure that part of the terms of purchase of this house include you all keeping your jobs. And until the house is sold, I’ll continue to pay your wage. And of course you’ll still have rights to live on the grounds. If you want to stay that is?” I asked.

I hadn’t realised until a week ago that there was a small bungalow at the back of the huge garden, and when I’d asked Anette about it she had informed me that it was where the staff lived. I didn’t know they were on call 24/7.

“You’re too kind.” she said, then hurried out of the dining room.

I was glad that she hadn’t tried to argue with me over it. I didn’t have much fight in me today.

We ate our lunch in a comfortable silence, although I think some of it was down to shock at the inheritance. When we finished a knock at the door announced the arrival of a couple of Wolves who had been sent to transport Coop to his temporary home. I went into his room as the guys sorted everything out and perched on the bed beside him.

“Time to go.” I said gently and leaned down to press my lips to his forehead as he always did to me.

“Finally.” he said with a long exhale. “Remind me to never come and stay with you guys when you move.”

I laughed lightly and stroked my hand down his arm.

“You’ll miss us really.” I said sadly and he gave me a thoughtful look before nodding.

“Oh, guess what.” I said, perking up a little and changing the subject. “I’m a billionaire!”

“What?” he exclaimed, “How?”

“The dead prick left meeverything.”I said.

“Great, you can buy me a new car then, as a thank you gift.” he said, and I didn’t know if he was joking. I didn’tcareif he was joking. I’d do it. I’d buy him whatever car he wanted. Fuck it, I’d by him ten cars if he wanted.

The guys came in and I left them all too it, and once Cooper was safely strapped in with all of his supplies, I closed the front door and sighed.

“Nutmeg.” Don whispered in my ear as I leaned back against his firm body. He had been waiting at the door with me while Toby had gone to make a call. “You’re going to miss him, aren’t you?”

I hummed in agreement, I would. Sure he was only across town, but we were leaving soon too, and I still didn’t know where we would end up.

“What can I do to cheer you up?” he asked.
