“Most likely, he’s got a meeting with Grey about, well, I shouldn’t talk about it, but a Brother has been leaking info, they’ll be out for a while for sure. Why?” he asked and tightened his arm around me.

I focused on the screen; it was a feed from the same carpark where I’d first seen Adonis. When he had killed Rob Baxter and began our ongoing rivalry.

“I don’t want him coming in and getting the wrong idea about us and taking it out on you.” I said.

Cooper laughed, “I can handle it.”

“You shouldn’t have to.” I said softly, “I’m just glad we can still have moments like this, I love you Coop.” I said.

I had no idea where all of my soppy emotions had come from tonight, but I did mean it. He would always be one of the most important men in my life.

“Love you too.” he murmured just as Don appeared on the screen.

He looked up at the camera and I bit my lower lip in anticipation. A car pulled up in front of him and a man dressed all in black stepped out. The taste of blood filled my mouth as I bit harder. If either of my guys were here right now that wouldn’t have happened.

“Please don't fuck this up.” I murmured under my breath.

“He won’t.” Coop said as he started up a second screen and tapped on the keyboard.

I had no idea what he was doing, I couldn't tear my gaze away from the footage of Don in the car park. I narrowed my eyes in an attempt to read their lips, but the image was too grainy to make anything out. The man stepped forward at the same time as Don pulled out his gun and fired a shot to the left of the man’s head.

“What was that?” I said critically.

“He isn't alone.” Coop explained and I leaned closer to the screen and stared at the place where Don had fired.

The windscreen of the man’s car now had a bullet hole on the passenger side.

“Nice.” I breathed.

My attention moved back to Don and the man, and I watched as Don fought the man off and threw him to the floor. He attacked the man with vicious blows, and I wondered if he would kill him with his bare hands.

“Is he?” I asked.

Coop knew what I was asking, “He’s allowed to kill him, yes.” he confirmed, just as Don pulled a blade from his pocket and dragged it across the man’s throat.

I released a long breath and closed my eyes with a proud smile lifting my lips.

Coopers phone began to vibrate on the desk, and I looked down to see that Don was calling. I snatched it up and answered before Coop could protest.

“Good job baby.” I said in a seductive tone. “I should piss you off more often.”

“Aw, were you worried about me?” he asked smugly, and I looked at the screen to see that he was staring back up at the camera. Still straddling the dead man.

“Of course not.” I lied. “Hurry back though, if you get here before Lorenzo gets back, I’ll give you a special reward.”

He hung up and I grinned as I stood up from Coopers lap.

“You get turned on by that?” he asked. “Girl, you need therapy.”

He wasn’t wrong.

It felt like forever since I’d last seen Toby. But this afternoon Don had declared that he had a surprise for me later on, and I was 90% sure he was going to be sneaking Toby into my hotel room.

I slipped the crimson gown on and admired myself in the mirror. Against Lorenzo’s wishes, I’d chosen to wear my hair in vintage Hollywood curls and paint my lips the bloodiest red I owned. Tonight we would be having an early dinner in the hotel’s restaurant with select friends and, I guess, family. Tomorrow, I’d be putting on the white dress and walking down the aisle. My appearance tonight would be one last fuck you to Lorenzo’s controlling ways before I kill him.
