“What if it is?” Lorenzo asked.

“If it is, I’ll kill you right here with my bare hands.” Clive growled and my brows rose.

“No, you won’t.” Lorenzo said, dropped the gun from his chin, vaguely aimed, and pulled the trigger before tossing it to one side.

My breath caught in my throat as Clive spluttered and groaned as the bullet hit him in the chest and he collapsed in a heap. I dropped to the floor beside him, groaning as pain flared along my leg as I hurried to put pressure on his chest.

Another shot was fired, and my head snapped up. Sal had shot Lorenzo in the arm. As Lorenzo’s laughter echoed off of the walls, Sal dropped his gun and pounced on Lorenzo. The two men fought as I tried to stop Clive from dying on the exact spot where I had stood and started this whole mess. It was too late though. He was unresponsive and limp.

I wanted to stay on that floor and scream. But I knew that wouldn’t do anyone any good. And I was stronger than that. Don held his hand out to me to pull me back up and we braced ourselves to join the fight happening between his stepfather and his uncle.

I threw myself into the middle of them and managed to slam into Lorenzo with enough force to get him away from Sal. I ducked as he took a swipe at me and slipped my knife from my thigh. I straightened back up and slashed at his chest, ripping the fabric of his shirt and staining it with his own blood. He roared in pain and swung at me. His fist landed on my cheek, and I stumbled sideways. Don noticed in time to stop me from falling and Sal flew in, taking my place and attacking Lorenzo with determined jabs and kicks. His foot drove into Lorenzo’s stomach just I lunged again. Lorenzo jerked backwards, but as he steadied himself he snatched the knife out of my hand, wrapping his hand around the blade with a flat expression, flipped it over, and thrust it into the body in front of him.

Sal grunted, doubled over, and fell to the floor with my knife buried deep in his stomach. The back of Lorenzo’s bloodied hand collided with my face, and I crashed into Don. Before either of us could blink, Lorenzo was on the floor, straddling Sal. He twisted the knife, pulled it out, then plunged it into Sal’s chest.

Sal spluttered and blood coated his lips. Don left my side and yelled aggressively in Italian as he collided with Lorenzo, knocking him off of his uncle and onto the floor. He stood up and slammed his foot down onto Lorenzo’s body over and over until the man was coughing and wheezing and completely at his mercy.

I looked down at Sal, and he met my gaze with a burning rage.

“Go.” he gasped, and I knew there was nothing I could do for him.

I did as he said and joined Don. Lorenzo was laying beneath him, and I smirked down at him as I reached into Dons trousers, pulled out the gun, and aimed it at his head. Don pulled his Smith and Wesson from his holster and took my hand, squeezing gently and running his thumb over my split knuckles.

“He’s using you,” Lorenzo whispered in a rough voice. “You dumb bitch, you’re just a pawn in his revenge plot.”

“Oh Lorenzo,” I said and batted my lashes at him. “I’d never be a pawn in anyone’s plot, I’m the queen.”

“Queen?” He coughed as he attempted to laugh. “You’re nothing but an opportunistic little slut who’s forgotten her fucking place.”

Don’s hand tightened on mine, and he bared his teeth at Lorenzo.

“How dare you.” he snarled.

I turned my attention to Don and smiled at him.

“Cute” I whispered, then noticed Lorenzo move in the corner of my eye and quickly reacted, raising my foot and stamping my heel into his hand. I groaned at the effort it had taken, but Lorenzo’s yelp of pain made it worth it a million times over.

“Fuck you. You are mine. You made a promise.” Lorenzo spat, his voice breaking as I twisted my heel.

“I suppose I did, ‘til death do us part.” I mused.

I looked at Don and he smirked at me. That damn smirk that drove me to all different levels of insanity. I was so angry with him. Yet so devastatingly in love with him.

He raised a brow at me in question and I nodded as Lorenzo barked a bitter laugh.

It was the last noise I heard before we tightened our fingers, pulling on the triggers, and ending it. We stood there together, fingers twisted together in an unbreakable bond, firing shot after shot into Lorenzo’s body, making sure there wasn’t a chance in hell that he’d ever come back from it.

I fired one final bullet between his eyes and dropped the gun. Don fired into Lorenzo’s chest, then turned, dragged me close and cupped my chin with one huge hand.

“I love you.” I breathed.

His mouth met mine in a possessive, frantic kiss that turned my entire body weak. I twisted my arms around his neck, holding on to him and never wanting to let go.

We did it.
