“And I want to know why he was killed for being there,” Deuce added.

“We’ll find out,” Gate said. Then, in true CEO fashion, he moved his brothers through the meeting’s agenda, “Ryder, give us your thoughts on Moose.”

Ryder shifted his attention, “I circled through the Carolinas and then up through the mountains into Tenneessee. Moving slow enough to make sure the cut was clocked everywhere I went. Never saw him myself, but the rumors are that he’s gunning to get his place in the Dragons back.”

“No way in hell,” Talon muttered.

“I’ll kill him first,” Brick said.

Gate glanced Brick’s way, “Might come to that if the motherfucker won’t stand down.”

Ryder shook his head, “Definitely not standing down, from what I heard.”

“Stash, Rooster,” Gate said.

“Sir,” they replied as one.

“Ideas on how to handle Freemont’s lab?”

“Lotta pieces on the board,” Stash said.

“Lotta moving parts,” Rooster added.

“And?” Gate asked.

“Feds are dirty, boss,” Stash answered. “We’ve got surveillance and stacks of evidence, but the only way to really bury these guys is to get someone they can’t ignore on the inside and burn them all.”

“You got any way to pull that off?” Gate asked.

Stash and Rooster exchanged a glance.

“Of course. Just not sure how receptive the audience will be to a request fromus,” Stash answered.

Gate scrubbed a hand down his face. “Okay, I’ll take care of it.”

Brick

Juggling keys, a coffee cup, and clip boards full of port documents, Brick was opening the door to his office when his cell phone rang.

He dropped everything onto his desk, except the coffee, and dug the phone out of his pocket.

International.

Brick’s pulse kicked.

He told himself that it was just the surprise of seeing the unexpected on his phone, but he knew it was a lie. The copper taste of adrenaline flooded his mouth at the thought of hearingheragain.

“You got Brick,” he answered, desire adding gravel to his voice.

“Hello again, Brick,” the British voice smoothing over all the jagged pieces of his soul.

“Margo,” Brick said.

“You got it in one, chap,” Margo giggled. “Now, be a love and tell me all about the baby shower. Was it fabulous?”

Brick dropped into the chair behind his desk and shook his head. What was it with women and baby showers? He didn’t have the first clue, but they all seemed to love that shit.
