Because the soft heat of her breasts pressed into his back as she wrapped her arms around him and settled herself as close to him as she could get.

“You good?” Brick growled over his shoulder.

Margo gave him an extra squeeze, “Super comfy.”

Brick shook his head, “I’m going to hell.”

And Brick had to throttle his Harley to drown out the sound of her laughter.

The café wasn’t far enough from his office at the port to warrant riding his Harley to get there, but Brick was honest enough with himself that he could admit he’d wanted to feel Margo at his back while she enjoyed the rumble of the machine for what he assumed was the first time, and he was not disappointed with the result.

He angled into a parking space, and when Margo removed the heat he’d enjoyed from his shoulders to his ass, he missed it.

“Are all Harley’s so….ummmm….invigorating?” Margo asked.

Brick noticed that she was struggling to catch her breath and trying valiantly to appear unaffected.

Brick shrugged, “I think it has more to do with the driver.”

“Driver. Of course,” Margo muttered.

Brick hid his smirk and directed her to the café.

Once inside, Brick returned greetings from a few waitresses who eyed him like candy and Margo like an invading enemy.

“You must be popular around here,” Margo observed.

Brick’s noncommittal grunt said more than words every could.

He crossed the room and took the chair in the back corner.

Margo sat to his immediate right so that she faced the room as well.

One of the waitresses delivered coffee, and Margo switched the mugs before she took her first sip.

“In case of poison,” she murmured to Brick.

The waitress ignored her. “Your usual, honey?” she said to Brick.

“That’s fine. And whatever she wants,” he said replied, gesturing to Margo.

“Crab cake Benedict,” Margo grinned.

The woman scribbled on her pad and disappeared into the kitchen.

“What’s your usual?” Margo asked.

“Shrimp and grits with a side of French toast and bacon,” Brick answered.

“Wow,” Margo said, eyes going wide.

“My turn,” Brick countered. “Why are you really here? And don’t give me some bullshit about too much heat in the UK. Being who you are and doing what you do, I have no doubt that you could have hidden in a thousand different places until the dust settled. Yet here you sit.”

Margo poured enough sugar into her coffee that Brick wondered how she had any teeth left.

She added a splash of cream and spoke, “The people looking for me will be a bit more constrained in your country than in Europe.”

“And who are these people?”
