Gate’s smile was lazy, “Yeah, I don’t want you to ruin those shoes either.”

“Thank you for what you did for me today, Gate.”

“My pleasure to please you,” he grinned. “And I gotta say, what I’m looking at right now is worth every fucking penny. Watching you walk toward me like that?” He just shook his head in answer to his own question.

Gate opened the door again and followed me inside.

“Go have a good time with your girls,” he said at my back.

I glanced over my shoulder, “Do you know how good it feels to havegirls?”

“Girl posseis the correct term, chica,” Layla said, grabbing my hand and pulling me with her toward the bar.

I lifted my cactus glass even higher, “Hey, don’t make me spill my drink. They won’t make them this good here.”

“What trash you talkin’?” one of the brothers behind the bar asked me. He had raven black hair and full sleeve tattoos.

“Ink, right?” I asked.

“Yes, ma’am,” he grinned.

“Don’t disparage my protegee,” Layla said, leaning on the bar beside me. “Ink is a quick study and currently makes the best peach margaritas in the greater Savannah area.”

“You havepeach?” I asked.

“Would you like sugar or salt on the rim?” Ink asked me, his eyes dancing with laughter.

“I recommend you go both,” Layla advised.

I turned up my glass and finished off the pineapple. Then I slid the glass across the bar. “I’ll have both please, and I would like it in my cactus cup.”

“You girls are too much.” Ink shook his head and laughed, “Cactus cup.”

But he mixed and blended and poured, and at the first sip, my eyes rolled back in my head.

I toasted Ink with the frozen concoction, “Ink, you have successfully reached Nirvana.”

Ink placed his hand over his heart and bowed, “I live to serve.”

At this point, Jenna and Gabby joined us.

“What’ll it be for the little mama?” Ink asked.

“I’d love one of whatever you made for her,” Jenna pouted.

“No,” Talon called from across the room where he was watching Tex and Tank play pool.

“How does hedothat?” Jenna muttered.

“I can still here you,” Talon called out again.

“Ugh,” Jenna grumbled through gritted teeth.

Ink went to work behind the bar again and then slid a smaller paper cup across the bar. “Virgin, or he’d have my ass.”

“Of course,” Jenna smiled at the younger man. “Thank you.”

She turned and faced the room with the rest of us.
