I laughed, “Well, if you got me something, it’s a present.”
“Oh, it’s as much for me as it is for you.”
I grinned and glanced back, “You got us sex toys?”
Gate dipped his face into my neck and growled in my ear, “Hands to the wall, kitten. And don’t move.”
The breath rushed from my lungs, and my nipples went tight as I followed his command, placing both hands on the wall in front of me.
I felt more than saw Gate reach outside the shower, and then he was all hard body and masculine strength behind me, stepping close so that his heat took the place of the warm water.
“Left hand, kitten,” Gate said, his voice going deep with emotion.
I lifted my left hand from the tile, and Gate stepped to my side, held my left hand in his right, and slid a ring onto my finger.
“Hand back on the wall,” Gate said, returning to his place behind me.
My eyes bugged. “What’s this?” I asked, stunned by the size of the ruby with a diamond halo that now sat on my left hand.
“New life together, new ring,” Gate answered, sliding his hands from my hips up to cup my breasts.
“It’sgorgeous,” I whispered.
“Fit for an empress,” Gate said, nipping at my ear. “First time I saw it, I thought how it matches your hair.”
“I can’t believe you did this,” I gushed, eyes glued to the most beautiful piece of jewelry I’d ever seen. “I need to get you one.”
“We can go look at them together,” Gate said. “But right now, I’m gonna clean us both up and then fuck my wife while I’m staring at the ring I just put on her finger.”
And about that time, Gate reached for the body wash, and I saw his back for the first time.
“And what isthat?” I breathed.
Gate glanced at me over his shoulder, “Kitten, you marked me a long time ago. Now, I’m just making sure everybody else can see it.”
The outline of the new tattoo that took up most of Gate’s back was all great white shark and sexy as hell mermaid. The only part of the tattoo with color shaded in so far was the mermaid’s face….and it was mine.
“Gate, is that….?” I trailed off, reaching out but not quite touching the fresh images.
“You? Yeah, it is,” he said.
“This is without a doubt the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” I whispered, awed by the swirling lines of the two creatures in some kind of mythical embrace.
“You feeling inspired?” he grinned.
“Definitely,” I agreed.
Gate turned, grabbed my ass, and pulled me close. His blue gaze seared my soul. “You’re mine. Until forever,” he growled against my lips.
“Until forever,” I nodded.
And then he kissed me, and I realized that forever would never be long enough.
