Dropping ass into the chair at the head of the table, Gate’s eyes glazed over as Stash and Rooster got their techno on at the opposite end of the room.

Talon joined Gate at the table and swung his chair in his president’s direction. “Long night?”

Gate blinked, “What?”

Talon smirked, “Thought so.”

“Don’t be a dick.”

“Proud as fuck for you, man.”

“I want to get her pregnant.”

Talon’s eyes went wide, “Hasn’t that ship sailed?”

“Not sure,” Gate admitted, “but it’s worth asking.”

“Does she want more kids?” Talon asked.

“She’ll probably shut it down. Hell, we’re closer to our kids having kids than us.”

Talon scrubbed a hand across his jaw, “I don’t even want to think about that yet.”

Gate chuckled, “The way my boy looks at Jenna’s girl, you’d better start.”

Talon fell back in his chair, “Fuck.”

“Yeah,” Gate agreed.

Ryder, Tex, Nine, and Brick filed into the room, followed by the rest of the brothers, some of them still carrying mugs of steaming coffee.

Gate watched Nine take his seat.

Nine glanced Gate’s way and lifted his chin.

Gate returned the nod, the gesture conveying the gratitude his words never could.

“You good?” Talon muttered in Gate’s direction.

“Yeah, I just keep thinking about all the ways it could have gone wrong, you know?”

“Your girl’s a professional,” Talon said. “And so is he,” Talon went on, nodding toward Nine’s place halfway down the table.

“I know you’re right, but knowing that while we’re planning an op against Freemont and knowing it while Anna’s standing in front of him is two different things.”

Stash cleared his throat, breaking up the smaller conversations around the room. “Welcome to Kicking Ass and Taking Names 101. I’ll be your instructor for the day, along with my associate, the incomparable Rooster,” Stash pulled a Vanna White, indicating Rooster at the computer console.

Rooster pressed a button, and the lights dimmed. The intro to Europe’s “Final Countdown” blared over the speakers and green laser lights flashed.

“What thefuck?” Gate demanded.

Rooster silenced the music and grinned, “Just playing with some new toys. Making sure everyone’s awake.”

Brick lodged a finger in his ear and shook it, “The greater Chatham County area is awake now.”

Stash frowned Rooster’s way, “I told you that was a bad idea.” Clapping his hands, Stash smiled like an excited professor, “Moving on, we’ve got quality entertainment on tap for your viewing pleasure. Play the footage, Rooster.”

The big screen flared to life and video rolled. Then the screen split into quadrants. Top left was black and white grainy exterior surveillance of the rehab center turned drug lab. Top right was live color streaming of the interior of a senator’s office. Bottom left was distant drone footage of a yacht somewhere in the murky green waters of the Atlantic. Bottom right was a streetlight view of a sports car zooming through the streets of downtown Savannah.
