Talon chuckled, “Now, that I’d actually like to see.”

Going with the surprise that was on my side, I hitched my hip against Talon’s groin, pulled the arm that was closest to me, and I would have had him if he hadn’t been so fucking tall.

“Damnit,” I growled about the same time he picked me up off the floor.

“Gate, get down here and get your woman,” Talon yelled toward the rafters.

And then I heard Gate’s boots thundering down the steps.

By this time, Talon had scooped me up over his shoulder and was holding me still with one arm clamped across the backs of my thighs.

I looked up, blew a curl out of my eyes, and glared, “Tell yourneanderthalto put me down.”

“You through trying to run?” Gate asked.

“I am by far more dignified thanrunning,” I spat back.

Gate crossed his arms and leaned against the wall. “Jury’s still out on that one,” Gate said. “And while you decide, I have a fantastic view.”

I grabbed Talon’s belt, used it for leverage, and gave Gate my full attention, “Gator Tremaine, I will slit your throat while you sleep.”

The man actuallygrinnedat me.

With my free hand, I reached into my belt and pulled the petite Damascus Bowie from the sheath inside my trousers. Tip against Talon’s back, I whispered, “You wanna keep this kidney, put me the fuck down.”

“Okay, Gate,” Talon said, flipping me to stand on my feet and stepping away, “this one’s all yours.”

“Yeah, she is,” Gate said, grin not fading the first bit.

I pulled up the flounce of my jacket and slid the dagger back home.

“You do realize she pulled a knife on me,” Talon pointed out.

“You did have her hanging upside down,” Gate countered.

“I need a drink,” Talon muttered, turning for the bar.

“Me too,” I agreed. “I’m going home,” I said, heading in the opposite direction.

“What you scared of?” Gate said, barely loud enough for me to hear.

I glanced back.

He still hadn’t moved, but everyone else in the common room was riveted.

I hadn’t realized until that moment I was the center of attention, although given that Talon and Gate were both nearly six and a half feet tall and weighed a quarter ton plus between them, I’m not sure why I was surprised.

And that’s when I heard it.

The front doors opened, and thegirlsrolled in.

Jenna, all glowing baby bump, followed by her daughter Cassie, and the rest of her posse, Layla and Gabby.

And if that wasn’t enough, my own daughter brought up the rear.

And when Stella saw me, she squealed, which meant Cassie followed suit, and suddenly I found myself surrounded by pregnancy hormones, leopard print, and platform sandals.

“MOM! What are youdoinghere?” Stella asked, full of teenage daughter enthusiasm.
