“No, it’s her boyfriend,” another student joked.

“Damn, he can bemyboyfriend,” one of the well-dressed guys in the middle of the group said.

“Maybe she interviewed him for that research she did?” someone else whispered.

And before he knew it, Talon found himself the sole focus of every set of eyes in the room.

Especially Jenna’s.

Her gaze went frosty, but she covered it fast, smiling her game face and playing to his presence. “Actually, Talon here, I’m sorry but I don’t know his real name, loves to share his knowledge of club history. So please, feel free to ask questions. I’m also sure he’d be happy to give any takers a ride on his bike.”

With that, Jenna smirked his way and started for the nearest exit.

Talon unfolded from his chair and raised his voice across the crowd, “Only woman gonna be on the back of my bike is you, princess.”

Jenna shot a look over her shoulder, “I’ve told you not to call me that.”

“Oh, mygawd,” well-dressed guy stage whispered. “I’m going toswoon.”

“Might as well wait up,” Talon said, following her. “I’m coming with you.”

“Have to catch me first,” Jenna said as the door closed behind her.

Following hot on her trail, Talon grinned, “Count on it, baby.”

Talon hung back while he trailed Jenna from the lecture hall to her office door. He took in how the students went out of their way to speak to her. He also noted that while some of the faculty members were friendly, others snubbed her, even if she spoke first.

And that pissed him off.

By the time Jenna got to her office door, he was right on her six, all apex alpha and protective instinct.

So when a wormy looking professor type jogged up to get her attention, Talon stepped between them and growled.

“Talon, stop it,” Jenna said, elbowing him out of the way.

He gave her a step, but barely.

“Who’s this?” Talon asked.

“One of my colleagues,” she said. “Kevin, this is Talon. Talon, Kevin.”

Jenna unlocked the door and walked in, dropping her handbag in one of the office chairs across from her desk.

“I’d like to think we’re more than colleagues, Jenna,” Kevin began.

“You’re not,” Talon said, closing the door in his face.

Jenna looked up from behind her desk, “You’re a cretin, you know that?”

Talon shrugged and dropped into the empty chair across from her. “Don’t much care, it keeps nerds like that away from you.”

“I’m a nerd,” Jenna pointed out.

“But you’re a hot nerd, so it’s different,” Talon grinned.

Giving him an eye roll, Jenna picked up a red pen and started on some student essays.

“Enjoyed your class,” Talon said. “Knew you’d be good, but I didn’t know you’d bethatgood.”
