When my eyes finally adjust to the darkness, I realize that Everett’s taken me to a celestial oasis. We’re perched behind a large wall that blocks the howling wind, creating a secret alcove that hides us from the rest of the world. My breath hitches at the thought of us truly being alone.

I’m thankful that no one else is here to witness our destruction.

At this moment, my entire universe is reduced to Everett’s firm chest against my back, the soft lapping of ocean waves, and a million twinkling stars.

“Oh my God,” I mutter, using my heels to slip out of my uncomfortable shoes and pad my bare feet across the wooden deck.

My mouth hangs open and my eyes widen in awe as I place my hands on the safety railing, completely amazed that this view even exists. It’s too spectacular to be real, like Everett stole it from a Van Gogh exhibit and plastered it in the middle of the ocean just for me.

My eyes roam the dark horizon, tracing the line where the night sky meets the sea. The full moon illuminates the sweeping waves in silver ripples. The sky is full of glittering stars, so big and bright that it almost feels like I could reach out and grab a handful to keep for myself. I would bottle up the starlight in a jar, keeping it in a sacred place to brighten my darkest days.

Before I feel him, I sense him. An addicting thrill rushes through my veins as his footsteps near me. My skin tingles with awareness when he places a hand on my shoulder, using his other hand to pull back a lock of my hair, exposing the column of my neck to him. I close my eyes as he nuzzles his nose into the crook of my neck, before brushing his warm lips against my skin. My pulse skyrockets as he places a tender kiss to the nape of my neck.

“You ready to go back to your room? I’m sure Elliot’s still up working.” He taunts in a raspy tone against my ear.

“No,” I whisper.

“That’s what I thought,” he hums, sending shivers down my spine. Even though he’s behind me, I can hear the smug smirk in his tone.

“This is unbelievable,” I exhale. “How did you find this place?”

“I discovered it on our first night. I was having a hard time sleeping, so I decided to get up and explore the ship. After hours of walking, my curiosity got the best of me when I noticed the staircase leading up here.” I feel him shrug against my back. “I’ve been up here every night since.”

“I’m mad at you for keeping this a secret until now,” I joke. “I would kill to see this view every night.”

“Isn’t that ironic?” He lets out a low chuckle.

“Isn’t what ironic?”

“You were just accusing me of plotting to throw you overboard when really, all I wanted to do was give you a little slice of heaven,” he rasps, his voice a deep melody against my ear.

Even though Everett can’t see the blush blooming across my cheeks, I can feel it. He has a way of turning my insides to mush with his words. Apparently, I also lose my ability to form coherent thoughts because I’m left speechless. Thankfully, Everett is the first to break our silence.

“The first night I came up here, I stayed until the sun came up. I laid on the deck, staring up at the stars in disbelief. I didn’t move for hours. You would have thought I was hypnotized or some shit,” he laughs.

“I can see why,” I chuckle. “It’s absolutely incredible.” Needing to be closer to his radiating warmth, I lean into him, pressing my weight against his body as I rest the back of my head on his chest.

“Not as incredible as this,” he rasps.

“As what?” I breathe.

“You, Sky,” he whispers in my ear. “Being here withyouin my arms, watching your eyes light up… It’s fucking priceless. Best view of my entire life.” I forget how to breathe as he loops his strong arms around my middle, pulling my body flush against his.

I audibly gasp when I feel his erection press into me, just above the crease of my ass. He splays his long fingers across my belly, fueling my need for him to an uncontrollable level. Every single touch feels like he’s staking his claim on me.

“Everett.” His name falls from my lips in a breathy purr. Not thinking about the consequences, I slowly roll my ass against his hard cock, drawing the sexiest groan from deep in his chest.

Craving more of that reaction, I grind my hips again, my knuckles white as my fingers clutch like railing in a death grip. Everett hisses, before spinning us around in a flash. My vision blurs as I realize that he’s flipped us so his back is now resting against the safety rail. My chest heaves up and down with heavy breaths as I use his shoulders to steady myself. His eyes flicker down to my breasts, his pupils darkening as his gaze turns ravenous.

My cheeks heat as I clear my throat, feeling a little intimated by the way he’s so blatantly eye fucking me right now. His searing gaze makes me feel exposed and vulnerable. I didn’t know it was possible to feel so turned on by a single stare. It makes me feel powerful…dangerous almost.Like there’s nothing in the world Everett wouldn’t do for me. He’s completely entranced…by me.

“You could have given me a warning before you slung me around like a rag doll,” I quip. “I thought you might actually throw me overboard for a second,” I chuckle, attempting to break the ice.

I wait for his response, knowing that Everett will try to get the last word in. But instead of coming back with something snarky, he brings me to my knees.

“I’m sorry,” he chuckles nervously. “I thought it would be better this way. You can look at the stars, and I can look at you.”

You can look at the stars, and I can look at you.
