“Our blended family gets along incredibly well. I suppose Trevor and I are particularly tight. We’re about the same age. We both take on the sibling jokester roles in our families. We just clicked immediately.”

“How did you get involved with carrying their babies?”

“Cassandra had frozen eggs from her thirties. It was the only way they could have any kids. I honestly gave it little thought. Helping Aunt Cass was a no brainer. She’d literally jump in front of a bullet for us. How could I not give her this gift?” I smile. “I only offered one, but they managed to get two out of me.”

He laughs. “Honestly, it’s one of the most selfless things I’ve ever heard of.”

I shrug. “Thank you. It was worth it.”

“Out of curiosity, why didn’t Harley do it? She seems like the more logical choice.”

“She would have loved to have been able to. She had severe complications during the birth of Ellie. We almost lost her. The doctors told her that she can’t carry any more children. It’s too dangerous.”

“I’m sorry.

“It was rough, but it’s all good now. Everyone is as they should be.”

“What’s your timeline, Reagan? When do you want to settle down?”

“If you knew me at all, you’d know that I’ll never truly settle down.” He smiles. “The truth is, I have no timeline other than I always knew I didn’t want to get married young. My mom started dating my father at twenty years old. I didn’t want that. I wanted to experience things before getting married and definitely before having kids. I do want it all. I see the love my mom had with my dad and now Jackson, and the love my sister has with Brody. I do want it, but I’m in no rush. I’m still young.”

He smirks. “Any particular experiences you’re looking to have?”

“I’m not sure. I’ve done a lot already.”

“Have you traveled?”

“I have. I grew up pretty fortunate. My parents took us on a lot of great trips overseas.”

“Dated lots of men?”

“I’ve had my fair share.”

“Threesomes?”

“Maybe.”

“Two men, or a man and a woman?”

I smile and nod. “Yes.”

He laughs.

“What about you? Any threesomes?”

“Yes, but only with women. I don’t think I’d be up for having another man around.”

“A little inferiority complex, Carter?”

He smiles as he sips his drink. “I promise you, Reagan, I have absolutely nothing to feel inferior about.” I have no doubt about that.

He surprises me with the next question. “Have you ever been in love?”

I shake my head. “No, I haven’t”

“Have you ever told anyone you love them?”

I look at him like he’s crazy. “Carter, I mean what I say, and say what I mean. If I haven’t been in love, then it’s a pretty safe fucking bet that I’ve never told anyone I love them. If there’s one thing I’m not, it’s full of shit.” He nods. “What about you, Carter? Have you ever been in love?”
