I look around. “I’m sorry. Is there a convention in my room this morning? Why areallof you in here?”

Just then, Carter walks in. He’s wearing a t-shirt and athletic shorts. He smiles. “I asked them to come in.”

I look at him in question.

“Don’t worry, I sent your sisters in first to make sure you were covered up.” He winks.

He smiles as he gets down onto his knees on the floor next to me. He grabs my left hand and slides an exceedingly beautiful, brand new, diamond ring onto my ring finger. “You said you wanted to get engaged in front of your family while in bed. I wanted to make your dream come true. What do you say? How about we do it for real this time?”

“Carter, I said in bedorwith my family. Not both. It’s a little weird for it to be both. It’s also a little presumptuous of you to slide the ring on my finger without asking first.” I smile.

He shrugs. “You already gave me one ring back. If there’s another, I can handle it.” He smiles back at me.

“When did you get this ring? I’ve been with you every second since the press conference yesterday.”

He looks up at Mom and they both grin. “The day you dumped me. That’s why I wasn’t in the office. I was with your mom asking for permission to marry you.”

I look at Mom. “Did you give him permission?”

She laughs. “He gave me averyheartfelt speech. And he’sverycute. I couldn’t say no.” She looks at Carter and smiles. “And then we went ring shopping and I made sure hereallyloves you.” She winks at me, and I laugh.

He looks down at me. “I doreallylove you. I doreallywant to spend my life with you. Marry me?”

I pull his head to me for a kiss. I meant it to be a soft kiss, but it deepens, and I end up pulling him on top of me.

I hear Mom shout, “Everyone out.” They shuffle out. She yells back into the room, “We’re making a celebratory breakfast. See you guys down there in a bit.” They close the door behind them.

I smile into Carter’s lips as they all leave. “I can’t believe you brought my whole family into our bedroom for that.”

He smiles back. “I swear you said familyandbed, not familyorbed.”

We start kissing again. I pull off his shirt and use my foot to slide down his shorts. I look down. “I suppose I have to say yes considering the anaconda has ruined my ability to ever gain pleasure from another man again.”

He nods. “For the sake of all of your future orgasms, I think you need to say yes.”

I nod. “I agree. Only for the orgasms, I’ll marry you.” He kisses my hand. “And you have to promise me a lot of rides on your motorcycles.”

“I promise.”

“Fine. I’m in.” I look down at the impressive ring, and then back up at him. “You know, I would have been cool with a Cracker Jack box ring. You didn’t need to get me a ring like this.”

He smiles. “I know. That’s just one of the many reasons I love you.”

He slides under the blanket with me, and we celebrate our engagement.

We head downstairswhat feels like a little while later. The kitchen is clean. I don’t see any breakfast. I look at Mom. “I thought you said you were making breakfast.”

“That was nearly three hours ago, Reagan.”

“Oh. My bad. What’s for lunch?” I smirk at her.

She gives me a dirty look which morphs into a smile. “I’ll let it slide since this is your engagement day.”

Jackson walks in with a few bottles of champagne. “How about a toast?”

Carter looks at the bottles.
