“Crazy how things turn out,” laughs Brilyk. “I never imagined sharing the love of my life with someone else, but here we are.”

“As long as you’re happy, I’m happy. You deserve this.”

“Thank you, brother. Say, when do you think you’ll be doing all of this?” he asks.

“Hmm? All of what exactly?”

“Finding someone to settle down with.”

“Oh! Well I… I don’t think I have the time.”

“But the rebellion is over.”

“I know, it’s just with rebuilding Infnore and all…”

“Alright, I get it.

At that moment, Elllie appears by Brilyk’s side. She squeezes his arm and plants a kiss on her lips.

“Hi there, I hope I’m not interrupting anything!” she says.

“Not at all,” I chuckle. “Congratulations by the way.”

“Thanks Gavarn, I hope you enjoy the celebrations.”

She tugs on Brilyk’s arm, pulling his ear down to her mouth. Excitedly, she whispers something inaudible in my friend’s ear. A wide smile etches its way across his face before he suddenly whisks her up in his arms.

He spins around on his heels and breaks out into a run, making way for the manor. I watch in curiosity as they link up with Ihokha by the door before they all disappear inside.

Good for them,I think to myself.

I mull over Brilyk’s suggestion to find someone for myself. I don’t quite understand the dynamic between him, Ihokha and their shared mate but it’s undeniable that they’re all happy.

Am I just making excuses for myself?I think as I remember my reply to Brilyk. It would be nice to be loved by someone.

A hint of jealousy flows through me as I wish I was fleeing off with my lover. At that moment, I begin to wonder if there’ll ever be someone that I end up with. Though my future will undoubtedly be busy with assisting to rebuild Infnore, I know for certain that having a special person in my life would make things better.

I achieved my lifelong goal of liberating this place. Now that it is done and dusted, I realize there is free room for a new adventure in my life, something that would truly rock my world and take me on a wild ride. I can’t help but feel as though it is one in the way of romance.

“Hey Gavarn, are you okay?” asks Arvak, nudging my elbow.

“Hmm? Oh I’m fine.”

“You were just staring at the castle for a while. Have you had a lot to drink?”

“Oh I’m barely tipsy,” I laugh. “Don’t worry about me. Come on then, the night is still young.”

THE END.
