“You know they’re all just giving you a hard time about Kennedy, right?”

“Yeah.”

“So, you really haven’t sealed the deal?”

I throw my head back and laugh. “That’s what you wanted to talk to me about? Whether or not I’m sleeping with Kennedy?”

“No, not really.” He smirks. “But I am curious.”

“No, Prez, I haven’t slept with her.” I tilt my head. “Well, we’ve slept, but that’s it.”

“What are you waiting for?”

I heave a sigh. “Prez, she’s… I don’t know. She’s different. Do I want to bury my cock inside her? Absofuckinglutely. But she deserves better than that.”

“Isn’t she the one who brought sex up in the first place?”

“Yeah.” I thrust a hand through my hair. “Look, I get that no one understands, and I’m okay with that. Quite frankly, I don’t fucking care if anyone understands. She’s the only one who matters.” I glance out the window before leveling my gaze at him. “Do you believe in love at first sight?”

“I do.”

“I think that’s what I’m dealing with. And despite what she says, Kennedy doesn’t need me to dominate her or tell her what to do under the guise of teaching her about life. She needs someone who actually gives a damn about her and what she wants. She needs a man who will pay attention to her actions and her words, someone who puts her first.”

“She needs you.”

“That’s what I’m hoping,” I say with a grin. “Fuck, that’s what I’m hoping.”

“Okay, then.” He glances thoughtfully toward the door. “Bring her to the party this week, see how she does around everyone. I know you and she are all that matters in the equation, but trust me when I say, her getting along with the brothers makes a difference.”

I narrow my eyes. “Does someone have a problem with her? Who said some—”

“Calm down,” Snow orders. “No one has a problem with her. In fact, those of us who’ve met her, really like her. I’m asking this for you. You’re a good man, Dip. You deserve a woman who can stand by your side, not follow you around like a student.” He shakes his head. “Never mind. This is coming out all wrong.”

“Nah, it’s fine. I think I get what you’re saying,” I tell him. “I’m not worried about it, but I get it. I’m taking her out tomorrow so maybe we’ll swing by the party after. But I’m leaving it up to her. I want her to stick around, not run screaming,” I deadpan.

Snow smirks. “Yeah, I get that.”

“So… Is that all you wanted?”

“Pretty much. Just wanted to get a good read on where your head’s at.”

“My head is on Kennedy. Always on Kennedy.”

Chapter20

Kennedy

“I’ll be right there.”

Disconnecting the call with Jenny, I flop down onto the bed. I have a date with Dip tonight and absolutely nothing to wear, so I called her and begged for help. I have a few hours before he’s due to pick me up, but I’m nervous and have nothing better to do than stress about what I’m going to wear and whether or not tonight will be the night Dip actually makes a move.

For someone who agreed to teach me about sex, he’s taking his sweet time to do it.

When Jenny knocks on my door, I open it and drag her across the threshold. She laughs at me as she holds up a bag.

“I come bearing gifts,” she quips.

“Thank God,” I groan.
