“Does the thought of any other chick besides Apple on the back of your bike or in your bed give you the willies?”
I think about it and shudder. “Affirmative.”
“Do you want to make her your old lady?”
“I claimed her, didn't I?”
“So you keep saying,” he deadpans. “Then I’ll ask you again… do you love Apple?”
I open my mouth to respond, but my cell pings from my pocket. When I grab it and look at the text notification, my head spins.
Mark: 911
“Malice?”
I lift my eyes to Soul and shift my phone so he can read the other messages from Mark along with me.
Mark: Boarding plane now but something’s wrong
Mark: Meet us at airport… bring Abyss
Mark: Apple isn’t right… sick like before but worse
Mark: Way worse
Mark: RESPOND DAMMIT!!!
“Abyss!” Soul shouts as I type out a response.
Me: I see em… what happened?
Mark: Don’t know. Flight attendant bitch glaring at me so putting my phone away. FUCKING BE THERE MALICE!
Me: We’ll be there when you land
“Yo, Prez, what’s up?” Abyss asks when he reaches our side.
“We’re leaving for Harry Reid International,” I bark. “Get your medical shit and let’s go.”
He glances at Soul, who nods. Abyss takes off toward the medical wing at a run.
“Meet me in the garage,” I call out to him, and he gives me a thumbs up over his head but continues running.
I turn to go to my room to get my wallet and the keys to Stella, but Soul grabs my arm, stopping me.
“You need to slow down,” he says. “If Mark is getting on the plane with her, she’s breathing and alive. He wouldn’t do that if he thought she wouldn’t make it to Vegas.”
“Slow down?” I snarl. “Slow fucking down?!” I yank my arm out of his grip. “I’ll slow down when she’s back on solid ground, with me, and Abyss tells me she’s okay.”
I storm away, but I hear his muttered ‘yeah, he loves her’.
Well, shit.
“I’mready to get back to Vegas.”
“For Stella or Malice?” Mark teases.
“I’m ready to pick up Stella and spend a night roughing it.” I wink. “I guess Malice can join me.”
