Apple is quiet for a moment as she sets her fork down and pushes her plate away. “Malice, are we together? I mean, we’ve slept together, yes. But are we a thing? Are we in a relationship?”

Reaching across the table, I link my fingers with hers. “I’ve declared you mine to my brothers. I know you’re new to all this MC stuff, but that’s the very definition of a relationship.”

“Well, I don’t know about you, but for me, a relationship is about compromise. I would never dream of asking you to give up the club so why is it okay for you to ask me not to go to California?”

“I didn’t ask you to do that,” I argue, although that’s exactly what I was going to do. “But can’t you put it off for a while? What if you’re in danger?”

Her eyes widen. “Am I? In danger, I mean. Because last I heard, the assholes who cut Stella’s spark plug wire were handled.” She frowns. “What aren’t you telling me?”

“Nothing,” I say in a rush. “There’s nothing I’m keeping from you about that. It’s just…”

“Just what?” she snaps.

My shoulders deflate. “What if they were working with someone? What if there’s still a threat to your safety?”

“I hate to break it to you, but bad things happen all the time. I’m not going to sit back and wait for the sky to come crashing down and miss out on all the good things. I won’t do that, Malice.”

“But Kyle will be there.”

Apple yanks her hand out of mine and stands. “Seriously?” She begins to pace. “That’s what this is about? You have some misguided notion that another man wants to get in my pants, so you never want me to be out of your sight?”

I shoot to my feet. “He does want in your pants!”

“Do you think that little of me that I’d seek out another man just because you aren’t around? Do youreallynot trust me?” She throws her arms up. “What about you? How am I supposed to feel about youlivingwith women whose sole purpose is toentertainthe club brothers?”

I grip her shoulders as she tries to pass me and force her to look me in the eyes. “Apple, I trust you. This isn’t about you. But I also know how men are, and I’m telling ya, Kyle’s… off.” I shrug. “I can’t put my finger on it, but I’ve learned to trust my gut, and my gut hates the fucker.”

“But he’s done nothing wrong. And I have no interest in him whatsoever. If that’s all you're worried about, then you can stop. If I’m with a man, I’m with them. And Malice, I’mwithyou.”

I smile for the first time since this conversation started going downhill. “Good. And same,” I say. “I haven’t been interested in another woman since the first time I saw you. I promise you, no matter how close my living quarters are to the club bunnies, it won’t change the fact that I’m loyal to you and only you.” My smile falters slightly. “I might not have the past of a monk, but you’ve got me, babe. I’m all in.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, really.” I grin. “Maybe you should move into the clubhouse. That way you can keep an eye on me.” I bounce my brows suggestively.

Apple chuckles. “Damn, when you say ‘all in’, you really mean it.”

“Of course, I do,” I say. “One thing you’ll never get from me is lies. I promise you that.”

“What about club business? You’ll always tell me the truth about that?”

“Yes… sort of.” When she glares, I rush to add, “I might not always be able to tell you everything, but I promise, I’ll never lie.”

She pretends to think about it for a moment and then nods. “I can live with that.”

I blow out a breath, thrilled that I’m back on positive territory with her and knowing I’m about to risk that. “I still don’t want you going to LA alone.”

“Then I won’t go alone,” she says simply.

I arch a brow. “Really?”

It can’t be this easy.

“Really,” she confirms. “Mark can come with me.”

“Uh… what?”

“You trust him, don’t you?”
