“I think that’s a good decision.” Harris stood up and lifted the covers so I could scoot down, redistributing Luna’s weight as I went. As soon as my head was on the pillow, he kissed my temple, letting his lips linger on my skin. “Good night, my sweet boy. I’ll see you in the morning.”

I was so tired that my eyes closed, and I could barely say good night to Harris as he was leaving the room. But the moment he was gone, I was wide awake again.

I didn’t want to sleep alone. Not after the nightmare I’d experienced earlier. And definitely not after the night we shared.

But he didn’t even hint that he was willing to sleep in my bed. And he certainly didn’t invite me to join him in his.

Resigned to sleep in fits and starts, I flipped over to my other side and squeezed my eyes shut. It felt like hours had passed, but when I checked the clock, Harris had only been gone for four minutes.

It was going to be a long night.

But maybe it didn’t have to be. Maybe I needed to use my words and test just how good of a Daddy he was by telling him what I wanted.

After a few more minutes of internal debate, I slipped out from under the comforter wearing just my boxers and T-shirt and headed to the stairs. I’d never actually ventured upstairs before, but I’d seen Harris come out of the room directly above mine, so I was pretty sure that was his room.

The stairs were smooth and silent as I ascended, carefully centering my weight so they didn’t squeak and announce my arrival. But by the time I hit the fifth riser, Luna had figured out my plan and went barreling past me and straight into Harris’s room.

I knew she’d found him when I heard the telltale “oof” that always followed one of her body flops.

“Dammit, dog. You need to learn about personal space.”

No longer bothering to be sneaky, I rushed up the rest of the stairs and peeked into the bedroom.

Harris was staring right at me with a grin. “Would you like to sleep with us, Jesse?”

I nodded and took a few steps toward him, not sure where to go.

He snapped his fingers and pointed to the foot of the bed. “Luna, move.”

The dog groaned as she army crawled to the foot of the bed, obviously annoyed by the request.

Harris grabbed the top edge of his covers and lifted them, making space for me to hop in.

I didn’t waste any time as I leapt right into the warm space beside him, instantly wrapping myself over his heated skin.

His bare, heated skin.

When his cock started to swell under my knee cap, I knew I was probably being bad.

“Sorry.” I straightened out in the space beside Harris with only my head on his folded arm. “You’re just so warm.”

His big arm closed around me, repositioning me so I was fully lying on his torso. “Never apologize for touching me or arousing me. I can’t help the way I respond to you any more than you can help being so damn sweet and sexy.”

The flush of blood I always felt when he complimented me didn’t stay in my neck long because it was needed in other regions.

He rubbed a circle over my back and then placed his hand in the center, holding me firmly in place. “But tonight, we sleep. We both need it.”

I wasn’t sure I’d ever sleep again.

HARRIS

Once Jesse settled on my chest, all the worry and tension from the night just washed away. He wanted to at least try to be my boy, and that gave me something I hadn’t had for a very long time.

Hope for a future.

I had been existing on autopilot for so long, resigned to the fact that maybe there wasn’t someone out there just for me.
