Daddy,

Dinner’s in the oven. Dessert’s in the shower.

Your boy

In my rush to get the note on the table, I knocked over the file and papers went everywhere.

Dammit!

I grabbed them all and shoved them back into the folder, but then I saw an unexpected address. The address of my doggy daycare. What the hell?

Dropping onto my ass, I read through the papers. It took me a second to figure out what I was reading but then it became clear. It was a deed to the building we were renting. The old nursery. Tony bought it and was the new owner who offered Jesse and I the urban grant or whatever the hell they called it.

“Jason.” Tony stepped into the office and kneeled down in front of me. “I can explain.”

I flipped through the rest of the papers, but I didn’t need to. I knew what they said. “What is this?”

Tony sighed and then gently pulled the papers from my grip then set them on his desk. “I’ve been waiting for the right time to tell you. It was going to be a surprise…someday.”

“A surprise?” I scooted away until my back hit the wall behind me. “What is this! You own my company?”

“No, sweetheart.” He tried to get closer, but I held up my palms to stop him. The hurt at my reaction was obvious on his face, but he scooted back until he was leaning against the opposite wall. “I’m so sorry for not telling you. I just wanted you to follow your dream and this was the only way I could help you.”

“Help me?” My hands curled into fists, and I banged the floor I was sitting on. “Helping would have been to paint a few walls or refer your patients who have dogs. That’s helping. You bought a fucking building and then pretended to have some grant thing so it was practically free. That’s not normal, Tony.”

He flinched at my use of his name. I rarely called him by his name and never when we were alone. “I thought I was doing the right thing. I’m sorry.” He leaned forward like he wanted to reach for me but then flopped back against the wall again. “I’d do anything to make things easy for you, sweetheart. Anything. And this was probably a little hasty, but you have to know it was out of love. Not as a means to control you or manipulate you in any way.”

“Love?” I scoffed and the tears started to flow. I tried to focus on my anger and sense of betrayal, but the hurt pushed through and made it impossible to control my emotions. “You didn’t love me then. You barely knew me.”

He couldn’t stay in place any longer. He closed the distance between us and then pulled me onto his lap. “I did, baby. I do.”

My tears flowed harder as I pushed against him to get free, but he just held on tighter, not letting me out of his grasp. “You didn’t. Don’t.” I didn’t even know what I was fighting against, but I needed the truth from him.

Whatever it was.

“Jason, baby.” He gently tilted my head back, so I was forced to face him. “I did love you then and I do love you now. Do you understand me?”

My head shook hard enough that I was getting a headache, but I didn’t believe him. It wasn’t possible. “How? How could you?”

He pressed his lips to mine, smearing the salty tears on our joined skin. “For the same reason I’ll always love you.”

I finally gave up the fight and went limp against him. “Which is?”

“Because you’re you.” He cradled me in his arms and kissed me again.

This time, my lips parted, and I welcomed his exploring tongue. There wasn’t anything sexual about the kiss. It was more than sexual. It was intimate. “Are you sure?”

He looked me in the eyes, and I could see the moisture pooling above his lids. “I’m sure, my sweet boy.”

A shiver of desire went through me. It always did when he called me his boy. “You really love me?”

Now he grinned. “I really love you.”

A half-sob, half-giggle escaped my throat. “I really love you too, Alpha Daddy.”

He rocked me close to his chest for a long moment. “I’m sorry for not being open and honest with you. I know I made you promise to tell me what was going on with you and I didn’t give you the same respect.”

I narrowed my eyes and pouted. “Yeah, you’re right. That was basically a lie.”
