I let out a sigh, my nerves still on edge. "I just can't figure out his game. Is he looking for a one-night stand? Because if that's the case, I'm down for it."

Brody burst into laughter, causing a few heads to turn in our direction. "Yeah, if he wants a third, I'll gladly give you my number too."

I smiled, but there was no way I'd share my sexy doctor with anyone, not even a nice guy like Brody. "Maybe he just thinks I'm funny, but he'll get tired of me after dinner." I grabbed a warm roll from the basket and added it to my plate. Looking up at Brody, I continued, "Most older guys I've dated find my brattiness cute at first, but the novelty wears off pretty quickly."

Brody glanced over at Tony, who was sitting with a group of other guys. The sunlight danced on his lightening hair, emphasizing his sharp jawline and the twinkle in his eyes. "Well, James and Harris are Daddies, so it's reasonable to assume that your doctor might be one too. If he's already seen your bratty side and still asked you out, that's exactly what he's looking for. I've never known a Daddy to go for a brat unless it's their thing."

"Unfortunately, I can't say the same from my past experiences, but I guess I'll find out soon enough." With our plates piled high with tantalizing dishes, we joined Jesse at the picnic table nestled in the shade of a large oak tree.

He scooted over to make room for both of us, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Sorry I haven't had a chance to chat with you guys yet. Been making the rounds," Jesse apologized, gesturing toward the lively crowd of friends and acquaintances surrounding us.

"No worries. Brody has been keeping me company." I stole a quick glance at Tony, who seemed engaged in an animated conversation.

Jesse narrowed his eyes, studying me and Brody then waving his finger between us. "You guys aren't..."

"No, no, no." Brody caught Jesse's meaning before I did and let out a laugh. "But Jason here has been handing out his digits like a pro."

Jesse's mouth dropped open in surprise, and I half expected a fly to take the opportunity to land inside. I reached across the table and gently closed his mouth, chuckling at his bewildered expression. "Relax. I'm not cruising your party." Glancing over at Tony, I caught him looking at me.

His smile lasted just a moment before he returned to his conversation, his focus shifting elsewhere.

Jesse, unable to contain his excitement, squealed with delight. "I knew it! Harris said he asks about you all the time."

I tilted my head, giving Jesse an incredulous look. "He's a doctor treating a patient. It's natural for him to ask about me. There's probably some law about following up after antibiotics. It doesn't mean anything."

"Well, the fact that he asked you out to dinner tomorrow does," Brody chimed in, directing his words more toward Jesse than me.

"Dinner? I wonder where he'll take you. I bet it'll be someplace amazing. Do you think he's fancy?" Jesse's excitement was contagious, and I couldn't help but share in his curiosity.

Trying to be inconspicuous, we all turned our heads toward Tony again, catching him looking back at us, or perhaps just me.

Hopefully, just me.

"I hope not," I muttered, glancing down at my favorite worn T-shirt and realizing a mustard stain had been there for far too long. "Because I certainly am not."

Feeling a mix of anticipation and self-consciousness, I tore a piece of the roll apart and continued to shred it into tiny crumbs until it formed a mound on my plate. "It's just dinner. He might be curious or in need of some company."

Brody, clearly determined to voice my insecurities, chimed in once again, his voice laced with mischief. "The doctor must like bratty boys, right? Obviously, Harris isn't into it, and I'm not sure about James. But the doctor must be intrigued by what he's seen of you, Jason."

Jesse, still new to the dynamics of the Daddy/boy relationship, hesitated, unsure how to respond. "I don't know. Maybe I can ask Harris what he thinks."

"No," I quickly interjected, while Brody said, "Yes!"

I sighed, realizing these guys wouldn't give up without a fight. "Fine, Jesse. Tonight, after we all go home, if you happen to remember, you can ask Harris about the kind of boys Tony usually dates. If this is just a one-night thing, I'd rather know in advance."

Brody nodded in agreement, his mouth full of food. "Great plan."

Besides, based on the answer, I needed to prepare myself mentally and emotionally…as well as physically for whatever lay ahead. The thought of being just another fleeting encounter left me with a tinge of apprehension, but if there was more to it, then I wanted to savor every moment, every connection we could possibly share.

As we continued our conversation, the summer breeze carrying laughter and music through the air, I couldn't help but steal glances at Tony. The anticipation of our upcoming dinner swirled within me, mixing with curiosity, excitement, and a sprinkle of nervousness. No matter what the future held, this unexpected connection had already ignited a spark within me, and I was eager to explore where it would lead.

TONY

When I pulled up to the older apartment building, Jason was waiting outside. Wearing slim fitting pants and a black T-shirt that hung nicely over his small frame, he looked amazing.

As soon as the car stopped, I put it in park and opened the door to get out.
