Although I would be bothered by the stares and whispers we would receive, a part of me did not care.
I thought it would be amazing to walk beside Dante with our son, and if I was going to secretly relish in the envious gazes of all the women who wished they had a chance with Dante, then nobody needed to know that.
As we walked hand in hand, I could feel the weight of our worries gradually lifting, replaced by a sense of anticipation and excitement.
Dominic's infectious laughter echoed through the air, a gentle reminder to focus on the present moment.
"I'm so glad we decided to do this. It feels good to just take a break and spend time together as a family." I said as the three of us strolled down the street.
I held one of Dante’s hands while he carried Dominic with his other.
It was quite a sight to see Dante, a billionaire who was a successful businessman and secretly the don of the most powerful mafia family, take a stroll down the street like a normal person instead of having his driver drive him to his destination.
"Absolutely. It's important to remind ourselves of what truly matters amidst everything that's going on." Dante replied, quickly raising my hand to press a kiss to my knuckles.
We first decided to visit the zoo.
As we arrived at the zoo, the excitement in Dominic's eyes was contagious.
His tiny hand clutched mine tightly as we strolled through the entrance, ready to embark on an adventure.
The vibrant colors of exotic birds caught his attention first, their melodies filling the air.
We stood in awe as we watched them spread their wings and soar gracefully above us.
Moving along, we approached the enclosure of the majestic lions.
Dominic's eyes widened with wonder as he witnessed their regal presence.
He let out a giggle when one of the lion cubs playfully pounced on its sibling.
From the sight of monkeys swinging from branch to branch to elephants trumpeting in the distance, and giraffes gracefully grazing on tree leaves, each animal sparked curiosity in Dominic.
We took breaks to indulge in delicious treats, sitting on a shaded bench while sharing laughter and conversation.
It was a welcomed break from all the drama that had been going on the past few days.
“Look at all these beautiful toys! Dominic, do you like them?" I asked, gesturing to the various animal plushies.
"Yes, Mommy! Can we buy some?" Dominic smiled and looked up at me.
He looked incredibly cute with his head tilted to the side.
"Of course, little man. Pick whatever you like.” Dante carried Dominic so he would have a clear sight of the toys.
After Dante bought a ton of plushies for Dominic, which would have been more than the already extravagant amount if I hadn’t convinced him to calm down, we decided to a park where we could just sit and look around, enjoying the lush greenery and colorful flowers in peace.
We ended up sitting on a bench located in front of a small pond that had a small family of fucks swimming in it.
The birds immediately captured Dominic’s attention, and he ran to see them.
“Be careful!” I called out, carefully watching him, slightly nervous that he would fall into the pond.
"Look at him, Angela. He's so full of energy and happiness."
Dante beamed widely after Dominic.
The sheer happiness on his face was infectious and made a smile spread out on my face.
