I couldn't imagine confiding in Dante's mother about the situation I had just revealed to Caterina.

It was too risky.

I didn’t even know what was going to happen between Dante and me.

I would first wait till Dante and I talked it out.

Isabella took a seat on the couch opposite me.

Her gaze was intense as she asked, "How have things been for you, Angela? What was your life like before you started working here?"

Squirming in my seat, I felt a sense of unease wash over me.

I knew Isabella meant well, but her probing made me feel exposed.

"Things have been...fine," I replied hesitantly, not wanting to reveal too much.

I felt my heart race at her question.

Isabella's gaze felt too intense as she asked, "I realized that I don’t know much about you. Suddenly uprooting you from your own life to be a live-in nurse here, I hope it didn’t inconvenience you and your partner. Have you been seeing anyone?"

I hesitated for a moment, wondering why she was prying into my personal life, but decided to answer anyway.

"No, I haven't been seeing anyone," I replied, trying to keep my tone neutral.

Isabella continued to stare at me, her eyes narrowing slightly.

"That's a shame," she said, her voice almost too sweet.

"You're a beautiful young woman, Angela. You should be enjoying your youth."

Her words made me feel uneasy, and I wondered what her true intentions were for asking such personal questions.

“Erm…I don’t have a partner.” I answered.

“Oh? Well, are you seeing anyone?”

Was she onto me?

Did she know about Dante and me?

"No, I haven't," I lied, trying to keep my voice steady.

Isabella's lips curved up in a smile. "That's a shame. You're a beautiful girl, Angela. I'm sure there are many men out there who would be interested in you."

I forced a smile, trying to appear nonchalant.

"Thank you, Isabella. But I'm not looking for anyone right now."

Isabella leaned forward, her eyes still fixed on me.

"You know, Angela, I've always considered you like family ever since you came here to help my husband recover from his heart attack in comfort, and as a mother, I want nothing but the best for my children. So, if you ever need someone to talk to or if there's anything you want to share, I'm here for you."

I felt a shiver run down my spine at her words.

Did she know about my son?

Was she trying to get me to confide in her?
